Hazel's POV
I glanced around the dimly lit room, the scent of familiarity soothing my senses. In contrast to the elegant evening attire I had worn earlier, I found myself in comfortable pajamas.
"I didn't even have a drink last night. I'm not much of a drinker, only on special occasions," I mused quietly to myself.
Memories of our shopping trip resurfaced, particularly the unsettling feeling of being followed on our way back.
But I pushed those thoughts aside, focusing instead on finding Char. "Char!" I called out, a hint of concern lacing my voice.
As a dark figure cloaked in a black hoodie entered the room, followed by others dressed similarly, my heart skipped a beat.
Urged by their silent gestures, I rose from the bed and followed them to an adjacent room, its dim lighting casting an ethereal glow over the surroundings.
Despite my attempts to inquire about Char's whereabouts, my questions were met with resounding silence. The last coherent memory I could recall was the overwhelming fatigue that had engulfed me, causing me to surrender to sleep's embrace.
Throughout their silent vigil, the individuals attending to me remained steadfast, their expressions betraying no hint of emotion.
Clad in attire that contrasted starkly with the darkness surrounding us, I looked like a rainbow in a storm. They took me downstairs, where I saw Char.
It was there that I finally laid eyes on Char, seated gracefully at the dining table. Relief washed over me like a wave crashing against the shore, dispelling the anxiety that had gripped my heart.
She beckoned me to join her, her presence a beacon of reassurance in the midst of uncertainty. Dressed in an elegant black satin dress, Char exuded an aura of timeless beauty that left me momentarily spellbound.
Hastening to her side, I couldn't shake the nagging worry about how she had fared in my absence.
Knowing my brother's penchant for manipulation all too well, I couldn't help but fear the worst for her well-being.A gentle giggle escaped Char's lips as she reassured me, "I'm perfectly fine, dear. Now, sit down."
Though her words offered solace, they also ignited a spark of curiosity within me. Perhaps my brother had spared Char because he recognized the sincerity in her demeanor.
Yet, as I pondered the events of the previous night, a pressing need to unravel the truth gnawed at my conscience.
With Char's well-being assured for the moment, I resolved to seek answers and clarity regarding the events that had transpired.
After all, my brother's actions had never been without motive, and I was determined to uncover the underlying truth.I drifted into a deep sleep last night, so I asked, "You were awake last night, weren't you?" She sighed, "I pretended to be asleep, but that cruel man knew."
She maintained her adorable angry expression, which made me laugh. "Tell me exactly what he said," I urged.
She began, "Once we got to this building, I attempted to escape. But he caught me, dragged me into a room, and pinned me against the wall.
He said, 'Don't you dare cause any trouble for Hazel.' I tried to push him away and asked, 'Do you even know who I am?' He chuckled and said, 'I don't know who you are, but do you know who I am?' "
She paused, "I yelled at him, "You dare to kidnap Hazel? I'll kill you!" But he remained silent, just staring at me. I thought he was about to speak, but then he burst out laughing. He said, "First save yourself, then we can think about your friend.""Then he called his servants to arrange the room where we were and left," she pointed to the room.
After hearing her story, I looked at her and noticed her flushed face. I chuckled.
She asked me, "How does he relate to you? Is he also crushing on you? If that's the case, tell him to quit, because of two things: One, you won't accept him, that's a universal truth. Two, if your brother finds out, it sounds scary."
She was interrupted, "If her brother knew, what would happen?" Mags questioned. I was literally sweating in the air-conditioned room.
Char, with tons of attitude, said, "You'll be dead, Mr. Cruel." I felt like banging my head against the wall, maybe she would do that once she knew who he was.
Mags said, "Good, you have enough clarity." Char whispered in my ear, "Are his brain cells dead or what?" I choked on the water I was drinking.
He sat opposite me. One of the servants said, "Sir, your usual spot has been properly cleaned. You can sit there." He seemed like a new servant. Magnus didn't say anything and he didn't move.
He turned towards Char and asked, "By the way, Ms. Attitude yesterday-" Char interrupted him, saying, "What happened yesterday? Why talk about it now? Let's just eat."
Goodness, she's blushing again. I'm sure she didn't even blush this much when the campus heartthrob proposed to her.
"I'm asking, what should I call you? You didn't even tell me yesterday," Mags asked as he focused on eating.
"I guess she's embarrassed now," I thought. "Oh, I'm Charlotte Dunstone," she said in a low voice."I see, attitude inherited from father," he said. "Anyways, I am Magnus Gray." Poor Char, her face was as pale as if she had seen a ghost early in the morning.
"The car's waiting outside, your phones are in my room. Now, go to college." he said and left.
I grabbed Char's hand and sprinted to my room.
Char sighed.
