Evyn's Pov
A great shock affected me after the match. It went well, but it left me feeling like I was standing alone in a hot desert, parched and desperate for relief.
The adrenaline had rushed through my veins during the fight, but now it had drained away, leaving behind a hollow ache.
Flashback -
I jumped into the boxing ring we usually fought in, as if it were the end of the world.
We needed this-needed to kill our anger, to defeat the emotional turmoil we faced daily.
I threw the first punch, feeling the connection as my fist met his face. He hit me back hard, the sting resonating in my knuckles.
"Say, man, whatever you want to say," he shouted, his voice echoing off the empty walls of the stadium.
We owned this place, our private battleground. Most of the time, it was vacant, just like our hearts felt after the chaos that life threw our way.
It was 3 AM in the morning. The city outside was silent, but our world inside this ring was alive with tension.
We needed to finish this before Sia woke up. She had been through too much already, and I didn't want her to worry about us.
"Ace, you shouldn't cross the limit, or else I won't leave you," I warned, punctuating my words with a punch to his gut.
My thoughts drifted to Sia-her face, how pale she had looked as we descended the plane. I could still see the concern etched in her features.
"Limit? I never check my speed limit when I race, bro.
The faster we go, the earlier we reach," he shrugged, dismissing my concern like it was nothing. I punched him again, feeling the frustration boil over.
"Race? This boxing is also a game. Play it too, man." The tension thickened in the air as I watched his expression shift from nonchalance to anger.
He retaliated with two hard punches, landing blows that would surely cause bruises. "Yes, bro. Game." His fury ignited, fueling our exchange.
"Atlas, I told you three years ago, and I'm saying it again: Sarah isn't an ordinary woman you can play with like you did before." I punched him again, trying to make my point clear.
"Listen, she is not. She is everything for me. She supported me when I had no one to pray for me. I would leave everything I have just for her," he shot back, his voice filled with conviction.
"Whatever it is, she is Viotto's pride. She is a person who is kind to everyone. She is a star that can't be reached.
But most importantly, "she" (punch) "is" (punch) "my"
(punch) "sister" (punch). "Got it?" I pressed, hoping to drive the message home.Blood began dripping from his mouth, yet he still tried to speak through the pain. "Evyn, she might be your sister, but she's my ashiqui (love of my life)."
His words struck a chord deep within me, but I wasn't about to let him off the hook. "Whatever it is, you should remember this, and you should fix it in your mind. It's her decision to do whatever she wants."
I landed another punch, hitting his jaw hard. He stopped reacting, standing there in stunned silence. I could almost see the gears turning in his mind.
"You can't own her, Ace. You have to earn her." With that final punch, he fell to the ground, and I knew I had won the match.
Our contests were always unpredictable; whoever was more invested in the game would win. Just like today.
