Evyn's pov
I've been standing outside this girls' dorm for what feels like forever-half an hour, at least. Seriously, why do girls take so long to get ready? This waiting game's getting old, real quick. So I'm killing time, scrolling through company emails, doing the work thing. Eventually, I get tired of just standing there, so I start walking around, away from my car. Then, out of nowhere, I bump into someone. I hear this soft, "Ouch!" Sweet voice, sure, but let's be real-I'm already taken.
I turned around to apologize while she was busy picking up her things. Her hair seemed familiar. "Do I know her?" I wondered. Anyway, I came back to apologize. "Excuse me, I'm sorry, I didn't notice," I said.
She lifted her head, and for a moment, time just froze. It was her-the same girl from the bus. She still had that lost, tired look, and now she seemed like she was in a hurry too. She smiled and said, "It's completely fine." That smile melted me. I was about to say something, but she rushed into a cab waiting by the roadside.
Without thinking, I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the car's license plate. To get some information, of course. And with it getting darker, I wanted to make sure she got home safely. I still had that checklist of hers.
I'll miss that sweet voice, that smile, the way she looks-everything about her. Funny, I barely know her, but I already miss her more than ever.
I'm just wondering, how many guys are chasing after her? Or worse, what if she's already... dating? No way, she seems too focused on her work, no distractions. But then again, you never know.
Just as my thoughts were spinning, my phone rang. Who is it? Sarah. Damn. I spotted her waiting by the hostel steps. She looked upset, so I grabbed her things and helped her into the car. We started driving toward my private airport.
Sia was quiet, clearly down. "Hey, little devil, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing."
"Evie, why Germany? There are over 195 recognized countries in the world."
"Because I think you'll be safe there," I said, keeping my voice steady.
She never told me what really happened between her and Ace, but as her brother, it's my job to figure it out. "Safe? It's a mental torture," she muttered.
"This time, you won't find it torturous, okay?" I reassured her.
She glanced at me, then turned her attention back to the window, lost in her thoughts.
Finally, we arrived at the jet-one of my favorite things in the world. It's sleek, fully aesthetic, with all kinds of metal platings. It's my personal sanctuary up in the air.
Sarah grabbed a seat and quickly got busy with her work, but I turned my attention to Sia. She was sitting there, clearly trying to avoid eye contact. "What?" she asked when she finally noticed me staring.
I gestured for her to come over. "Come here. I need to ask you something."
She hesitated but eventually shuffled over. "What is it?"
"Yesterday, you went out, right? Where'd you go?"
"Oh," she shrugged, "My friend just bought an apartment near the port area. She wanted to check it out, so she asked us to come along."
"Your friend's out of the university already?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No," she shook her head. "She's in our batch, actually. The youngest of all of us. She'll be 20 in two months. The rest of us are about to turn 21."
