As they strolled through the vibrant streets of the Capitol, Illyana couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration coursing through her veins. The sights, the sounds, the sheer extravagance of it all-it was intoxicating.Every corner they turned revealed another dazzling display of Capitol excess, from towering holographic advertisements to the kaleidoscope of people dressed in the latest outrageous fashions.

Ingrid walked beside her, her smile warm and encouraging as she pointed out various shops and attractions. "Oh, Illyana, look at that!" she exclaimed, gesturing towards a display of sparkling jewelry in a storefront window. "Wouldn't that necklace look stunning on you?"

Illyana glanced at the necklace briefly before moving on, her attention quickly drawn to a display of colorful scarves in the next shop. Without hesitation, she reached out and grabbed a handful of scarves, examining them with keen interest.

They were beautiful, delicately embroidered, colours so deep and saturated it was as if jewels had been woven into the cloth.

She thumbed over a particularly vivid purple one. It had delicate silver butterflies fluttering across the scarf.

A store assistant wandered over.

"Oh wow may I just say I thought you were so amazing! Gosh your even prettier up close?"

Illyana knew she was beautiful, but this girl was so happily infatuated by her she felt a kind of smug pleasure.

Illyana smiled graciously at the store assistant, her eyes sparkling with feigned modesty. "Thank you," she replied, her voice smooth and persuasive. "That's very kind of you to say."

The store assistant blushed, clearly flustered by Illyana's attention. "No, really," she insisted, "you're like a movie star or something!"

As the store assistant gushed over her, Illyana took advantage of the distraction to deftly slip the purple scarf into her bag, her movements fluid and precise. She made sure to maintain eye contact with the assistant, keeping her attention focused on their conversation while her hands worked quickly and skillfully.

"Oh, these scarves are lovely," she remarked casually, gesturing towards the display. "Do you have any other colors available?"

The store assistant eagerly nodded, her enthusiasm undiminished as she launched into a detailed description of the various scarves they had in stock. Illyana listened intently, nodding along with feigned interest as she mentally cataloged the information for future reference.

As they continued to browse, Illyana subtly guided the conversation, skillfully steering it away from any suspicion or inquiry. She complimented the assistant on her knowledge of the products, subtly reinforcing their rapport while carefully avoiding any direct questions about her own intentions.

By the time they left the shop, the store assistant was practically beaming with delight, completely unaware that anything was amiss. Meanwhile, Illyana walked away with a satisfied smile, the stolen scarf tucked safely away in her bag. She may not have needed it, she had the money to buy it, but there was a certain thrill in getting exactly what she wanted, by whatever means necessary.
