I sit in the common room next to Elizabeth. William and his friends are hanging out with us. We talk about what classes we're taking and stuff.
"Charli, what classes are you taking this term?" Georgie asks me.
"I don't remember them all. I know I'm taking muggle studies with Elizabeth," I answer.
"It's gonna be the best!" Elizabeth cheers.
"Are you taking divination?" William's friend, Henry asks.
"I hope not," I reply.
Albus and his trio with Scorpius and Mattheo enter the common room. They all separate and go to their dormitories, except Mattheo. He stays, and comes over sitting on top of the couch. I can't help but notice him whisper something into my brother's ear. I stare with confusion. My brother turns around, his face in disgust.
"She's my sister," he mutters, loud enough for me to hear. I clear my throat to let them know I can hear them. They're such idiots, I swear.
"Charli, right?" Mattheo asks, looking at me.
"Yeah, why do you care?" I ask, already annoyed with him.
"It's Charli but without the e," Elizabeth adds, just to try and be funny. She isn't always funny, but I love her anyway.
"Charli with an i," he mutters to himself. Why does he care?! He definitely already knows my name by heart now, what's wrong with him?
"You got a problem with that?" I ask, raising my left eyebrow.
"Don't get so defensive," Georgie says. I roll my eyes at him. He knows what happened, more or less.
"I'm going up, you guys coming?" William asks. The other boys get up and leave. Mattheo stays, and I wonder why.
"I'm gonna go find my book, is that okay?" Elizabeth asks me. "We should read down here, the other girls won't want the lights upstairs, beauty sleep or whatever."
I giggle. "Yeah, that's fine, I have mine here, but come back," I tell her. She nods reassuringly and heads off. She'd better be back soon, or I might kill myself.
"You're feisty," Mattheo observes. He jumps down and sits onto the couch across from me. He also knows that already. Why is he pretending we're complete strangers?
"I am," I admit.
Mattheo licks his lips. He's trying to flirt with me. It won't work. Even if he was hot.
"I like that," he whispers seductively.
I almost feel bad for him. "Stay away from me."
"Whatever you say, princess," he whispers, leaning closer to me. "But I always get what I want."
And then he leaves me panting, nearly breathless. But I'm not attracted to him. Not nearly. I pant, it's happening again. And then I crash. My breath is going full speed, in and out, a full blown panic attack.
"Hey, are you okay?" Elizabeth asks. I give her the look in my eyes, she already knows what's happening. It's only the first night here, and I'm already triggered.
