When Steve first got out of the ice, it was big news. Every part of America heard that the national hero had been found alive. Being an agent for S.H.E.L.D, meant that I got in on the information, and I even had the chance to help.

I had been an agent helping Fury out for a couple of years after he helped me from a difficult situation I was in. He trusted me enough that I even helped him on making some so-called Avengers Initiative. He said he wanted a group of remarkable people and that he already had an idea on a couple of them already.

After some deciding, Fury had elected me as Steve's help and to re-introduce him to society. I panicked a little as something like this wasn't what I had planned when I first joined S.H.E.I.L.D, but I wasn't going to decline the offer.

Fury had woken him up. It went a bit south, but he got it under control, and it was now time for me to do my work. Fury had set a trip that I was to do. A trip around Brooklyn to let Steve take everything in and possibly bring back some memories of his time.

I hadn't had the chance to meet him before, so this was all new to me. I arrived where we were meant to meet, and I saw him in all his glory, waiting awkwardly on a bench. Stepping out of the car that another agent was driving, I made my way towards him, taking deep breaths to try and keep myself calm.

When I was close enough, I gave him a smile, which he returned, and I gasped. He was so much cuter up in person, and his warm smile just added to the look. He was wearing a button-up shirt with a leather jacket, matched with some black pants.

"Agent (Y/L/N)," he said and stood up. He offered his hand, and I shook it. His grip was warm and tight, yet soft and gentle at the same time.

"Just call me (Y/N)," I told him, and he nodded. I was nervous, but something around him pulled me closer.

"I read your file. Fury gave it to me," he explained, and I nodded and sighed.

"So..." I started awkwardly. "Fury said that you needed to be re-introduced into society. I hope that's okay. You went through hell," I say honestly.

"I can't go back, so I might as well move forward," he said in a firm voice.

"Motivational," I mumbled, and he just chuckled as a response.

He took the lead as he showed me through his old home, showing me different alleys that he used to get beaten up in.

"If you knew you would get in trouble. Why carry on with the fight?" I asked while eating a pretzel we had gotten from an old bakery that Steve used to go to.

It was still being run by the same family, and it was quite a shock to them when Captain America walked in. However, no matter how hard I tried, he wouldn't let me pay, saying that it was him thanking me for today.

He shrugged and never really gave a solid answer. He mumbled something about not wanting to show weakness, so I left it at that.

"It must've been different then, huh?" I questioned as we sat on a bench out of the way, watching people as they went on with their life.

"I guess, but it was nice. Everything used to be appreciated, and every day was seen as a gift. At least that's what my Ma said," he answered, and I nodded.

"She sounded like a smart woman," I told him while looking at the ground.

"She was," he smiled to himself.

...

By now, the sun had started to set, and Steve had finished showing me around his childhood home. We had gone to many places, even visiting Coney Island, just for Steve to tell me a story about him and his best friend, Bucky.

He had talked about Bucky a lot. About his death and how he blamed himself. Steve missed him. I could tell by the flicker in his eyes every time he mentioned him. The way his eyes would leave mine and trace the outline of everything in sight.

He also mentioned his lover, Peggy. My heart broke listening to him. I knew her and had even got to meet her. I had mentioned that she was still alive to Steve, and his face brightened.

I told him that I'd let Fury know that he wanted to see her, but I couldn't help but feel a little bit of jealousy, though. I knew it was stupid, but Steve was such a sweetheart, and he was good-looking. I had heard many of my co-workers rant on about him and his looks and how they were jealous that I had got the job and not them.

"You know, there's an exhibition about you in the Smithsonian. It might be worth checking out," I whispered, my hands playing with each other.

Goosebumps covered my arms as the evening wind had started, and my shaking must've been noticeable because before long, I felt something against my shoulders. I turned to Steve, finding the jacket he once wore, now resting comfortably against my skin. I gratefully accept it and slip my hands through the sleeves. The jacket was too big for me, and it smelt of his cologne, but I didn't care. It was thoughtful of Steve, but I couldn't help but worry.

"Aren't you going to get cold?" I asked, my brows furrowed, ready to hand the jacket back to him. He shook his head, smiling.

"The serum helps, and besides, it isn't that cold," he answered, and I pouted.

"Maybe we should get back," I suggest. "It's been a long day, and I need to write a report to Fury," I told him, my voice informing him that I did not want to.

He nodded and stood, holding out his hand. I smile and take it. Our eyes meet, and we stay like that for a while. I broke it when I looked away, a blush creeping to my cheeks as I was trying to hide the smile I had. Steve must have sensed it because he gently took a hold of my chin and guided it back so that my gaze was on him once again.

"How would you like to accompany me to the Smithsonian one time?" He asked as he tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Is this a friendly offer, or a little more?" My voice was innocent, but the smile hadn't left my lips.

"And if it was a little more, perhaps a date. What would you say?" His cheeks had warmed, and he had a natural looking blush on them.

"If it was a date. I'd say yes." My eyes were on him as I answered, a warm and fuzzy feeling inside my stomach.

"Then it's a date."
