Warren got out of the shower earlier than usual as he suddenly felt nauseous and lightheaded, and it wasn't easy to stand straight.
"Maybe you should drink some water and lie down..." Emanon said, trying to stabilize him.
"My hangovers usually aren't this bad..." Warren replied as he gripped his face in pain.
"Sure... But I've also fed from you twice, and we've had sex twice. That's a lot of stress we've put on your body."
"I can handle sex." Warren retorted.
Emanon sighed and began to guide him back to the bed.
"I'm not implying that you aren't capable of handling sex... with a human, but I'm not human, and I've drained you greatly."
Warren didn't respond, though; he sat on the bed and dropped backward. Emanon stared at him momentarily and then went back into the bathroom. She grabbed the hairdryer from the countertop and returned.
"Sit up, please, and I'll dry your hair; I don't want you getting sick."
Warren slowly sat up, and Emanon sat behind him, plugging in the hairdryer.
"You can lean back a bit so you're more comfortable."
Warren reluctantly laid back.
"You don't have to care for me like this; I'm fine... I can sleep it off."
"I want things to be equal between us... I don't want to burden you."
Warren turned to her as she turned on the dryer.
"You're not a burden to me." He said
"Maybe you feel that way now, but maybe one day, you might feel that I asked for the moon, and you'll resent me for it."
Warren didn't know what to say.
"At least let me do this much, please?" She asked.
"Alright then." Warren turned and leaned back into her again.
The feeling of being a burden was familiar to him. He also felt he burdened others because there always seemed to be a disconnect between him and the other person. Something was missing, something they needed from him, but he didn't have it. He couldn't give what he didn't have, and it worsened after his parents passed. He withdrew into himself. Now, he's being taken care of by a young women who feel indebted to him. He sat there quietly.
After Emanon had finished drying his hair, she put the dryer on the end table.
"We should wash your clothes." She told him
"I'll send them to the dry cleaners when I return-" Warren replied, then sat up. He suddenly realized he hadn't thought about what to do with her when he returned home. Warren still had to work.
"Emanon... I have to work on Monday."
"- I figured."
"I work in the city, though; it's at least two hours from the shore. What will you do?"
"Stay here? Where else can I go?"
"You'll be fine here all week?"
"Yes?"
"What if those men from the facility find you?"
"Jack told me he drove us across states... I would assume it would take them a while before coming here. "
"- I still don't feel comfortable with you being alone the whole time..."
"What do you suggest then? I like being this close to the ocean."
