Warren woke to his alarm going off, slightly jolting up to the loud vibration of the phone rattling across the end table. He reached over and turned it off. It was 5:30, and the sun should rise in about an hour and a half. That should be enough time to beat traffic and make it home before it gets too hot. He turned over to find Emanon curled up underneath the blanket. He wondered how she could breathe down there, but she must be used to it.

"Emanon..."

"Hmmm?..." She looked up half awake; she seemed tired still. She was probably used to sleeping during the day, but yesterday, she was up when he was up and the whole day, too.

"I'm sorry... I know you're tired; it's time to go."

"Mmmkay..." She replied as she crawled out and rubbed her eyes.

Emanon got out of bed and put her clothes in the shopping bag. There wasn't much to pack, though. She went to her phone and checked its battery. It was at 70%, and Jack had not sent any new messages. Warren left the bathroom and looked at Emanon.

"You're going to wear your nightgown?.."

"I'm going to sleep the whole way." She replied.

Warren looked somber.

"I was hoping maybe you could peak at the sunrise."

"My eyes are too sensitive... I wouldn't be able to see the sunrise..."

"What if we got you sunglasses?"

"What's the point? I won't be able to see the colors with sunglasses..."

Warren dropped the conversation.

"Is your car nearby?" Emanon asked.

***

Warren stood there momentarily, and then his facial expression turned into panic. His car was at home. He forgot to figure out how he got down to the shore yesterday. He went and grabbed his phone to see if he had any receipts. His bank account had a convenient charge from the rental car place, so he checked his email and read one, reminding him to return the car he rented by today at 4 PM. He sighed in relief and then grabbed his coat to check his pockets. There was a key in the inside pocket of the coat. It's no wonder he didn't notice earlier. Saved by coincidences.

"Are you okay?" Emanon asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. I just forgot I got a rental, haha- Shall we go?..."

"I'm ready." She replied.

"Alright, I'll find where I parked and bring the car around."

***

Warren left the room, and Emanon sat on the bed waiting. She looked around the room and felt a bit empty. It became comfortable for her, but now she had to leave. Even if they could come back, it still made saying goodbye hard. Vampires are not nomadic; they prefer to stay in one place. There was also only one window here, which made avoiding the sun easy. How many windows would Warren's place have? She thought. She heard a car pull up, and Warren entered the room again shortly after.

"Ready?"

"Yeah," She said softly.

Warren picked up the bag, ensured they didn't leave anything behind, and escorted her to the car. She got in the back seat and laid down with her arm under her head. Warren placed the bag in the trunk and then closed it; he walked to the driver's side, opened the door, and got in. He unlocked his phone, pulled up a GPS app, typed in his address, and then slightly threw the phone in the passenger side while a voice began to guide him. He started to back out of the parking space as Emanon fell asleep again.
