SYAZIA dilanda rasa khawatir. Sejak daripada tadi, dia tidak senang duduk. Kejap berdiri, kejap duduk sambil mengetap bibir. Sumpah, Syazia sangat takut dan bimbang dengan keadaan sahabat baiknya itu.

Saat ini, Dareena sedang diberi rawatan oleh doktor di dalam unit rawatan rapi, ICU. Sudah hampir dua jam, namun doktor masih belum keluar.

Mana lah Syazia tak panik? Dareena pengsan dalam kereta dan dia cakap dia sesak nafas. Lepas tu mulut, muka, lidah dengan beberapa bahagian anggota badan Dareena naik bengkak.

"Excuse me, are you the heir to Miss Bunga Dareena Laura?" Suara Doktor Rachel, doktor yang merawat Dareena, menyapa Syazia.

"Yes, I am. Doctor, is everything okay? My friend... is she okay, doc?" Syazia bertanya dengan rasa takut.

"Her condition is currently stable. Please follow me, Miss. Considering how the patient's condition, there is something I need to spell out for you." Syazia mengangguk lalu dia mengikuti langkah Doktor Rachel.

Doktor Rachel mempersilakan Syazia untuk duduk di kerusi berhadapan dengannya. Doktor Rachel menyemak sesuatu di dalam komputer miliknya. Lima minit kemudian, Doktor Rachel mencetak sehelai surat lalu diserahkan kepada Syazia.

Syazia membaca isi kandungan yang ditulis di dalam surat itu lalu lidahnya bungkam.

"Doc..."

"As you can see, miss. It has been detected that your friend has a soy allergy. When a person has an allergy, their immune system, which typically combats infections, overreacts to soy proteins.

When someone consumes soy-based food, their body interprets these proteins as dangerous intruders and fights back, exerting maximum energy to drive out the invader. An allergic reaction occurs because of this."

Syazia tergamam mendengar penjelasan doktor muda itu. Selama ini, dia tidak tahu Dareena memiliki alahan terhadap kacang soya.

"Histamine is one of the substances released by the body when someone who is allergic to soy consumes food that contains soy.

This may result in symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, watery or swollen eyes, hives, breathing difficulties, coughing, hoarseness, throat tightness, stomach pain, and dizziness or loss of consciousness."

Semua tanda-tanda itu memang ada pada Dareena. Syazia dapat pastikan hal tersebut.

"On rare occasions, a severe reaction known as anaphylaxis might result from a soy allergy. Though it can worsen rapidly, anaphylaxis may begin with some of the same symptoms as a less severe reaction.

The person can faint or have difficulty breathing. The involvement of multiple body parts is possible. Anaphylaxis can be fatal if it is left untreated."

"So doctor, how is my friend now? Is she okay?" soal Syazia sambil menaruh harapan. Dia tidak mahu apa-apa terjadi pada Dareena.

"She is okay. She just need some rest and take the medicine," jawab Doktor Rachel. Syazia menghela nafas lega.

"How can she got an allergy reaction, doc?" tanya Syazia lagi.

"I'm not sure about that. She might be ate or drank anything that contained soy." Doktor Rachel memberi penjelasan.

"Certain foods might look normal on the ingredient list, but during manufacturing, they may come into collision with soy.

Cross-contamination is the term for this. Keep an eye out for warning labels like, may contain soy, processed in a facility that also processes soy or manufactured on equipment also used for soy." Doktor Rachel memberi nasihat.
