Unfazed by her words, I stared with a slightly arched brow at Rosalind. "Are you trying to insult me?"
"What do you think?" She scorned. "I just called you a maid."
"So, in other words, someone who earns an honest living and works very hard and sometimes has to clean up after entitled, snotty little brats who can't even throw their rubbish away just to put bread on their table." I pursed my lips and feigned a deep pensive state. "I'm trying to figure out at which part I should be insulted."
"Pardon?" Rosalind looked confused and annoyed.
"I suppose I am kind of a maid." I stared directly at Kaidan whose eyes hadn't left me either. "Except for the usual kind, I'll be helping to clean up Kai's act."
"Babe, who is she?" Rosalind asked.
Kai's lips twitched at the corners and formed a little smirk. "Just another person obsessed with me."
"Right," I agreed. "So obsessed that while you were away these two days, I had cameras installed all over your place so I can watch you all the time."
"What?" Rosalind, pretty gullible, seemed to have been losing her cool.
"Oh yes," I looked at her. "I plan to seduce your boyfriend and have him fall in love with me. Why do you think I moved in next door?"
Rosalind's eyes widened and she removed Kai's hands off her. She turned to him. "Is this true?"
Kai, who seemed amused, shook his head. "Relax, it's not –"
"How can I relax when she blatantly admitted to stealing you from me? How can you just stand there and.... and smile while she speaks to me like that?" Rosalind snapped.
"Am I an object that can be stolen?" He glanced my way. "Besides, look at her. Are you really threatened?"
"You can be kidnapped," I spoke. I inched closer to Rosalind. "You do know there's a basement in this building, right? The perfect spot to keep him all to myself and make him do whatever I want him to."
Petty fights with entitled brats weren't my style but this girl irked me the second she looked down on being a maid.
"I already have little toys and... gadgets we can play with," I added fuel to the fire with my sarcasm. "And I've been permitted to use violence on Kai. I think a good spanking is a good start."
Kai choked on air and stood straight while Rosalind was on the border of crying and tearing my hair out.
"Kai!" Rosalind stomped her foot on the ground. "Why haven't you thrown her out as yet?"
Kai composed himself and stared at me with bewildered and amused eyes. "How do you stand there and say all of that with a straight face?"
I looked at him with a bored expression. "Turn down the music and control your guests. I'm done here."
"I don't want to," Kai stated.
"Am I invisible?" Rosalind waved her hands in front of Kai.
Kai grasped her wrist and kissed her knuckles. "Never but you're getting worked up over nothing. She's harmless and from work."
Because that's going to ease this insecure girl's mind.
"Work?" Rosalind used a softer and nauseating sweeter voice with Kai.
"You told her you work?" I sounded surprised. "Honesty is the foundation of a relationship, Kai. Why are you lying to your girlfriend?"
Kai glowered my way. "Enough with your snarky comments and weird humour. You've dampened this party enough. Leave."
