Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to see Kai's face the second I opened my eyes in the morning. Before my brain acknowledged I was awake, I was greeted by Kai's face up close.

"What the bloody he-" I quickly moved to sit up but stopped when I realised that if I moved an inch more, my face would've collided with Kai's.

Thankfully, Kai pulled back and then annoyingly fanned his face. "Smelling your morning breath was not something I ever wanted to experience."

I was too confused and annoyed to be embarrassed by his comment. I finally sat up and took in my surroundings. I let out a small breath of relief when I realised I was in his living room and not his bedroom.

"Get up, brush your teeth, and get ready," Kai said as he headed toward the kitchen. "How do you like your coffee?"

How do I like my coffee? What the hell happened but more importantly why the hell am I here?

"I, um, think I'll just head back to my flat." I pushed aside the fluffy blanket and searched for my bedroom slippers.

"Watch your step!" Kai called after as I almost slipped while running towards the front door.

"I'm fine!" I assured and opened the door without looking back.

"Get back here when you're done, I'm making breakfast!" Kai shouted.

I ignored him and ran straight to my flat. My heart hammered against my ribcage while I leaned against my now-closed front door. I squeezed my eyes shut for a long second and did my best not to think about anything.

My attempt to empty my mind failed. I focused on washing my body and hair while I was in the shower but bits and pieces of the previous night flashed in my mind.

By the time I had nothing else to do but kill time until I had to leave for work, I recalled every little embarrassing memory from the previous night.

"Ugh," I groaned and hid my face in my palms. "What did I drink last night?"

I didn't want to face Kai, heck, I couldn't after the shit that I spoke. I sat next to him and made him play the piano, I ran across his living room like some kind of manic, and worse, I said things I wouldn't even dream of saying to anyone.

If Kai wanted to get rid of me, this was the best time because I was ready to quit my job so I wouldn't have to face him again.

Just as I thought of a hundred different ways to avoid Kai for the rest of my life, the front doorbell rang. My head shot in the direction of the door and my eyes widened. I knew who stood on the other end and had no choice but to open it.

Maybe if I play dead, he'd go away?

"Knock, knock, Coco, I know you're inside," Kai called. "You can't avoid me forever."

Yes, I can... no I can't.

I took in a deep breath and squared my shoulders. I did nothing wrong. Kai was a lot worse when he was drunk and I've seen him completely sloshed more than twice now.

With a straight face, I opened the door and looked at Kai, unbothered. He had his hand mid-air to knock again and a small grin on his face.

"Must you be so impatient? I was getting ready," I spoke nonchalantly.

Kai's eyes ran over every feature on my face until his eyes met mine. "How are you feeling?"

"Just fine, thank you for asking."

Kai pursed his lips and remained silent for a long moment before he bumped past me and welcomed himself inside.

"There's still almost half an hour left before we have to leave," I said as I shut the door. "Why are you here?"
