Jack's Hill||Monday||7:17 A.M

Jhené Capri-Taylor

The sun was barely peeking through my drapes when I woke up, I could hear the birds chirping on the outside.

Wait....

Don't tell mi say mi leave me window open again last night.

I groaned silently then rolled out of bed, I took my own time to walk to the adjoined bathroom and washed my face.

I brushed my teeth to make it more easier than to come back in here.

After brushing, I walked back to my room to unplug my phone from the charger.

I turned my WiFi on, I couldn't deal with the unnecessary notifications last night from the groups in my WhatsApp.

The first message I clicked on when all the messages started to load was my mom's.

Mother🔐: Good morning my beautiful baby girl😘 remember that no weapon formed against you shall prosper🫶

Capri: Good morning Mommy😘seven fall and many rise🥂

I smile as she wished me a good day, saying she has work in a few minutes.

My mother is a registered nurse in Antigua. I don't know, but people always said that my parents are rich. I mean yeah, they have money, but all that happened after I was born.

My mother dropped out of high school, my father had to work and after I was born they both went back.

My father worked and sent my mother back to school to pursue her career. After my grandparents saw his sacrifices, they sent him to pursue his career as well.

They both grew apart after a while, they still talked though, even if it wasn't about me.

I know for sure they still checked up on each other.

Ignoring the school groups, I texted the twins Good morning then got up to go to the kitchen.

Once I stepped out of my room and into the hallway, I could smell fried plantains and toast.

MiMi favorite that on Mondays.

Mhmm.

Mi sure everybody want fi know what happened yesterday morning when she was supposed to be home.

She showed up at the twins' house in the afternoon, a little before I was ready to leave.

She's so serious about her little adventures.

Somebody soon clip her wing dem fi her.

I didnt argue with her and neither did the twins.

We're going to ride this out for a while.

Ride it out until she really do some fucked up shit.

Eventually she will learn.

Walking into the kitchen area, I heard MiMi talking about our supposed weekend together.

My subconscious mind laughed at her.

She cyaah serious.

"If you keep following behind that gyal yaah go lead a stray", was her mother's response.

"Capri would never lead MiMi a stray, stop try corrupt the girl Stacey", Daddy argues, a hint of irritation in his tone.

"I'm just saying Malcom".
