Jacob
They’re something to see. I’ve lived thousands of years and watching the gods in action is incomparable to anything I’ve ever come across. I haven’t seen Cael, which means he’s watching somewhere specific, or he’s up to something else.
The gods work as a team, their delivery seamless communication is unnecessary, almost like they think as one. Where there’s water, Poseidon up rises oceans using his power to eradicate the intruders and shield the innocent, all with a wave of his hand. He sees through a single drop of water to entire oceans, completely one with the substance.
Where Poseidon is too far and it becomes inconvenient to use his power. Artemis and Athena work together. Artemis tracks down the unclean she calls them and Athena uses some kind of mind control to send them back where they came. It’s mindboggling to watch them leave in a cationic state.
Apollo tortures some tougher individuals that dare to challenge or slip through the cracks. He’s quite gruesome. I’ve never stayed long enough to see the results.
Hermes is clean up of lost souls and more of the technical nature. I don’t envy his position and have helped him on many occasions. Mainly because I don’t trust him. There’s something off about him and the way he looks at Poseidon. Like he wants to rip out his soul.
Demeter. She’s spectacular. I could watch her for eternity and never complain. She’s like a force of nature nourishing the land. Reinforcing the walls, Cael has torn down healing souls and the earth with her tender care. Wherever or whatever she touches becomes divine. She’s beauty reincarnated.
We travel the world fixing city by city with an all in a day’s work attitude. I wonder how they stay humble? When without them, this would be the end. I need to convince them to stay and protect them like I would my own child. If they were in charge, this would never have happened. Tallisa, every day I think of her and Lucifer, of course. What he’s done to my daughter. I’ve tried to leave, but the gods won’t allow it. They want me here for their own reasons. To keep a record of what’s happened while growing and honing my powers. I admit being able to use my strength is refreshing. I’ve mastered my control of weapons long ago, but whether manipulation is new and something I didn’t know passed onto me from my father. My necromancy abilities have come in handy a time or two. It’s a power the gods are fascinated by and Poseidon treasures. He says it brings back memories of his brother.
I’m getting closer to her. I know it’s selfish to want to skip over our travels, going straight to Minneapolis and reunite with my flesh and blood, but every minute she’s on my mind. I don’t like how things left off with her and Lucifer has made me nervous, which I’m sure is his intention. She’s home. I repeat it like a mantra in my head, reassuring my imagination: nothing is afoot, and all is well. It will have to do for now. I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for my secrets. She’ll get the happy life she deserves. I promise myself that. It’s what gets me through these days.
