Jacob
He’s disappeared. I watch Poseidon look around before diving down in the water to search for him. I underestimated Cael. He came to earth when we least expected it with armies of demon’s angels and creatures from lands far out of my reach.
It’s a full out war. I dodge the harpy above me, sending an arrow into its back. I’m glad I took the precautions I did and left the compound protected by magic. Nothing will be able to enter light or dark. With Tallisa safe. We can all be here with all the gods and goddesses, finally putting Cael in the ground where he belongs.
Freeing my wings, I enter the sky, getting a better view. Chaos all around. To my right, Apollo, Artemis, and Athena fight the tens of thousands of angels. They’re struggling. To my left is Rapheal, Elliot, and Grayson fighting off hordes of demons and creatures while Jolene and celeste chant behind them, weaving spells. They look exhausted. Estevan and amber! They’re at Cael‘s hide out. He could be there now! I teleport to the mountains to check on them. They’re playing cards. I flash out with one thing on my mind. Hermes is missing.
Poseidon makes the connection with me as I take my spot above him. He asks if I’ve found Cael. I tell him we may have bigger problems. I’ve never trusted Hermes. The moment I tell Poseidon he’s missing, he, too, disappears. We’re not winning. We were smug and didn’t see any of this coming. I dive down, reigning on the angels, demons and creatures with fury.
LuciferHarpies and gargoyles take over the sky. I fight my way through them, dropping down to join Elliot and Jolene. My daughter is breathtaking, hair blowing in the wind as her life force glows around her. She’s a force to be reckoned with. I watch as the power she wields debilitates hordes at a time, but they’re highly out numbered.
This is too much. I’ve made this mistake before and won’t make it again.
I cut my way to Elliot, not wanting to disrupt Jolene and celeste. I’m better off here where I can protect them, but first, I need to find Jacob. It won’t be long before this war spreads further. I have to get back to Tallisa. Elliot’s eyes round at my presence.
“Where is Jacob?” I yell over the defining sounds of war.
“I don’t know. He’s supposed to be with Poseidon.”
I teleport back to Tallisa, breathing a sigh of relief when I see her standing there with her arms wrapped around herself. She may hate me for this, but it must be done. I clasp onto her and bring her to Antarctica. When she gets her footing, she looks at me, openly confused.
“I don’t have time to explain. You have to stay here! I mean it, Tallisa, promise me,” my desperation is visible.
“Okay, I will but...”
“But nothing, promise me!” I wait, looking deep into her eyes, trying to read her.
“I promise, it’s not like you’re giving me a choice.”
That’s all I needed to hear. I join Elliot once more. He’s made progress in the short time I was away. The war seems to moving toward the docks as if drawn by an invisible force. Is it Poseidon?
Back at the docks, I look over the lake, finding no visible signs of struggle. Where are they? Something is wrong. I can feel it in my bones.
CaelPoseidon is in the heavens. My plan is working flawlessly. My guess is he’s been waiting eons for Hermes to cross him. The need to be right is powerful. With him away, I can capture the remaining gods. They’ll never see it coming.
Tally
I can’t stay here. They could need me. I’m a phoenix, not a coward. My whole life I’ve been protected. Where has it gotten me? This is what I need to fight. Stop hiding behind protectors and become one.
“I’m sorry, Cole, but some promises were meant to be broken.”
