~Kayla's POV~

“Alpha will see you now”

I took and deep breath and stepped into the office “Speak, Vampire, why are you on my lands" he growled not even bothering to look up from his work

“I was just walking by, I hadn't noticed I was on your packs' lands until I was told" I explained

“And you really expect me to believe that?” He asked glancing up at me with tired eyes

“Believe what you want, I’m telling you the truth” I shrugged crossing my arms.

He leaned back in his chair, studying me intently. I could feel the weight of his gaze on me, assessing every word I said. After a moment of silence, he let out a low, rumbling growl.

"Fine," he finally said, waving a dismissive hand. "I'll let it slide this time. But don't let it happen again, vampire. My pack doesn't take kindly to trespassers."

I nodded, relief flooding through me. I turned to leave, but his voice stopped me in my tracks.

"Wait," he called out. "There's something I want to know"

“Yes sir?” I answered

“Not necessarily trying to be rude, but you definitely don’t look like any I’ve ever seen, and your scent's a little off," he said “What’s that about?”

“Well, as for my appearance, I don’t quite know, I’ve asked my father but he just avoids the question” I sighed “My scent I definitely don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You got a coven?” He asked raising an eyebrow at me.

I hesitated, wondering how much I should reveal to the Alpha of the werewolf pack. But something in his gaze told me that he already knew more than he was letting on.

"I do have a coven," I admitted, watching for his reaction.

His eyes narrowed slightly at my words, but he didn't seem surprised. "And are you here alone?" he pressed.

“My father wanted me to understand the true dangers of the world so he banished me for six months'“ I explained shrugging “I've just been walking around aimlessly"

“Six months can be a long time to wander around aimlessly,” he remarked “especially without the protection of you’re coven"

“Yup, but I've been managing so far" I shrugged

“What’s your name vampire?” asked curiously

“Hmm, Inessa,” I said. Sure it wasn't my first name, but it was still my name. “And yours?”

The Alpha regarded me with a calculating look before responding. "Call me Elias," he said simply, his voice low and commanding.

"If you ever find yourself in need of assistance during your travels," the Alpha began, his voice gruffer than before but with a touch of genuine concern, "you can seek refuge in our lands. Just make sure to announce yourself next time."

I couldn't help but smile at his unexpected offer of help. It was a gesture that went against the age-old animosity between vampires and werewolves, making me more confused as to why Father wanted to get rid of them all.

“Thank you, Alpha Elias," I said genuinely. And like that, I was back in the woods wandering about, taking in the glowing moonlight.

As I continued to walk through the woods, the memory of my encounter with Alpha Elias lingered in my mind, why was he so nice to me despite the fact that I was a vampire?
