Fionn
Fionn runs ahead of the others. He's always been fast, too fast. He doesn't look back, a part of him hopes he loses the others, being a big group is too dangerous.
He makes it to the coast. He can see the sea. A small cabin sits on the coasts edge. It's missing it's roof, but the rest of it seems stable enough. There's no door, no windows, it looks like it's been built after the bombs dropped.
Fionn stops outside of it, he looks back, no sign of the others. He goes inside, it's empty bar a chest in the corner.Fionn opens it, a dozen or so syringes are thrown inside. Fionn picks one up and looks at it. It's an off-white colour. He throws the rest of the syringes in his bag. He looks at the syringe again. He never wanted to be up here, didn't work towards being picked. He was chosen by Hayes and wasn't given an option. Fionn didn't have parents to back him up, he had no one.
Fionn injects himself in the arm with the syringe, pushing the liquid into his bloodstream. He feels his heart begin to race rapidly. His breathing becomes tight. He feels the blood rush to his brain and it's as if a whole new person takes over. He feels light like he can fly. He backs into the table the chest is on and the chest falls onto the ground, falling onto a bag he didn't see at first. He hears a weird ticking noise and suddenly his world goes black.
Dolag
Dolag watches her ship approach her. Maon had told her his men would sound the carnyx and have them line the trees to ensure Annalise would know she's being protected as she made her way to the coastline alone.
A loud explosion rings through the air. Dolag turns to a plum of smoke rising into the air. She makes her way towards it, she doesn't question if it's a trap, it's as if something is telling her to go there.
The smoke is coming from the cabin, there's no fire or anything. A man crawls out of the door, dragging himself along the grass. Dolag rushes towards him. Below his knees are completely blown off but there's no blood or anything, she kneels beside him and turns him around. His eyes are gone but again there is no blood.
"I'll be back," she quickly gets up and runs to the coastline. She closes her eyes, and calms her breathing. They're waiting for her, she can feel it, she can feel her brothers sense her stress. Within seconds a loud roar travels through the air. She opens her eyes and sees Gealach soaring towards her.
"Bring him to safety, Gealach," she says as he flies over her. He picks up the man in his talon and flies back over the sea.
"Where is he?" Dolag comes into her tower. She had made her way back to the ship and returned to Cormac as quickly as she could.
"Gealach brought him to your platform, I called the healers and they came as soon as they could," Cormac says "where did you find him?".
"Where is he?" She repeats herself.
"Across the hall"."Hello," Dolag enters the room, it smells of different chemicals, metal and meat "how is he?".
"Hello, your Grace," the healer smiles "he is very good, surprisingly".
Dolag makes her way over to his body. The healer has put prosthetic legs on him, they're almost like springs, the end is perfectly curled up. She put a mask on his face, almost like a gas mask people used at the start, it looks as if it's connected onto his face through wires coming from the back of his head. On his torso there's four metal pods sticking out of his skin with wires attached to a vest that's placed by his bed."Where did you get this technology from?" Dolag asks.
The healer smiles "people underestimate us, they've forgotten about us and the skills we have. We have the best of technology, the best of scientists, in fact their ancestors helped create the bombs that were dropped. I had a blacksmith create his legs, the scientists created this mask a long time ago. When people first moved here the sand would get in their eyes, some would go blind, this mask allows him to see, it's connected to the brain and is wrapped in within his nerves. All of this works thanks to these pods that are within his body and connected to this vest. I do not ask questions, they just create their own magic".
"Can the mask be removed?".
"Yes," she points at the wires leading to pods at the back of his head "when he becomes stronger he can take the mask off, I believe his vision will return, once the mask is removed the wires will retract into these pods and continue doing their work within his body".
