"Chief, I was thinking. I feel it would be a good idea to go to the Secretary's home, and investigate the un burnt spots. That way we can see how the fire spread." Kasen suggested as he and Yani sat inside of Chief Mason office.
"Sounds like a good idea, I also have this for you guys to look at." Chief Mason trailed, sliding a yellow folder in the front of the two detectives.
"This secret service agent, scheduled to work the night of the fire. It's logged he was there and he died from a bullet wound instead of the fire."
Yani had absolutely no idea about this, she knew who the agent was but she also knew he wasn't scheduled to work that night either, at least from her knowledge and that's why she and Chief Jackson agreed to succeed with the escape plan that specific night.
"Chief, I remember this case, and I never heard that there was an agent identified." Yani stated really unhinged.
"Well I emailed both of you, a file of the autopsy report." Chief Mason said a bit irritable.
"Uh, alright Sir we'll go look into it right now." Kasen assured as he stood up from the desk also grabbing the folder.
Yani got up following behind, after Kasen stepped out she stayed inside of the office then shutting the door. "Chief. I need to talk to you." She trailed sitting back down.
"I think Kyreek is innocent-."
"Kayior, I told you to let it go-."
"No you told me to let it go until we caught Yop- Amaretto slipping and I believe I did." Yani retorted being completely smart with the Chief.
"How did you possibly do that?" He questioned not really trying to get his hopes up.
"Ok. Could you let me see that file of his banking transactions made to Jaylen Crawford's account?" Yani answered his question with a question, she wanted to prove something to him before giving information since he wasn't too hopeful with her accusation.
Chief Mason let out a deep sigh opening up his drawer from his desk, flipping through some folders.
He then tugged out a red folder, tossing it in front of Yani. She quickly opened it, pulling out the bank statements.
"Ok. So sixty...three.. thousand dollars.. multiplied byyy... three." She trailed typing the numbers in her iPhone calculator.
"Equalssss...one hundred, and eighty nine thousand dollars.BUT. If I divide that by three, I get sixty three thousand dollars!" She exclaimed really in the middle of being happy of her being right of her theory but also disappointed that the twins are involved with Yop.
"Chief.." she went on frowning her face as she realized he wasn't fond by her calculations.
"Kayior-."
"No Chief, please hear me out, I was hanging out with a friend and I overheard a conversation of two people working for Amaretto. All of his bank Transactions always seemed to be a odd number, I just need evidence to prove to you that the two are working for him, anddd... I have an idea about going to go see Kyreek's mom to offer help in return of some information."
Chief Mason held his head down letting out a sigh, "Kayior, you have only today to bring me something good if not I don't want to hear anything else about Amaretto. As I mentioned, you and Burns should be fully focused on this assignment." He trailed now pointing his finger at her.
"The Governor has helped me through many situations, I now owe him a favor and I trusted you and your partner to solve this. Don't make me realize this was a mistake." He went on speaking sternly to her.
"I won't Chief, I promise." Yani assuredly nodded her head as she stood up from the desk.
Chief Mason nodded, watching her head out. Yani was on her way to her office until an idea popped into her head as she saw officer Lankey at his desk.
"Lankeyyyy!" She dragged showing her pearls as she made it to his desk.
"Hey Detective." He smiled, turning his chair towards her.
"Ummm so I heard a rumorrr, that you. Are looking to be ranked. Soo how would you like to help me scrape up some evidence on a criminal Chief Mason is obsessively trying to take down."
Lankey smiled widely, "Hell yeah!"
"Okay, okay, so I need you to listen to Samurai Ray, Samir Ray, and Amaretto Glenn's phone records. I need something to prove that they are communicating in some way for their illegal business."
"Ok, I'm sure that should be easy." He nodded.
"Well, not exactly. I'm sure they are using burner phones so you're just checking to see if they slipped up with their regular lines."
"Ok.. umm that makes sense."
"Okay I'll be back, I have to run somewhere." Yani smiled as she walked towards her office.
Seeing Kasen there, wiped her smile clean off of her face, "Kasen.."
"Ok so, basically the pictures and the autopsy report seem legit, they have pictures of him outside of the home burnt up with a hole into his chest." He trailed and he held his chin into his hand.
"So I say we go to the home, we need to back track everything."
"Kasen there's nothing to back track. The fire was an accident. Chief and the Governor are just crazy." She said irritably brushing past him and around her desk.
"Yani how do you know? Like what's going on with you? It seems like you don't even care about this assignment." Kasen stated unhappy with her short work ethic.
"Look Kasen, I'm going through a lot right now. I think we should listen to the Chief and get some space away from each other-."
"What? Yani bro, I said I was sorry, I know it was a stupid mistake to kiss you-."
"It's not about the stupid kiss." She snapped.
"Then what is it about?" Kasen pressed.
"I-I-I just need space okay? Just give me time, let's just focus on this assignment separately and I'll let you know if I find anything." She said, grabbing her keys.
Kasen stood staring blankly at Yani. It was really upsetting for him seeing her push him away, this just wasn't their style of friendship. He missed her a lot and a part of him felt he couldn't solve anything without her help.
