Viola and Lucy were sitting together as the blonde boy when Lucy yelled at the others. "Y'all got family back home? They'll kill them if you hurt him. Then you." Viola then softly spoke, "Besides, he's our mentor. We might need him." Then a girl said, "How come you get a mender?" Then blonde boy spoke up. "Mentor. You each get one." Lucy spoke to blonde boy. "Oh, and we'll just trust you on that? Right?" Blonde boy looked at Lucy and Viola but mostly at Viola and said, "I'm just here to help you." The girl who was trying to murder blonde boy said, "Why does rainbow girl here get special treatment, hmm? Why aren't our menders here?" Blonde boy spoke up. "Just not inspired, I guess." Then everyone heard the truck stop as the truck started to tilt making blonde boy say, "All right, hold on!" He grabbed Viola by the waist but none of them held on and fell into a pit.
The three of them stood in the pit. Blonde boy was still holding Viola by the waist as Lucky yelled out. "Excuse me. Hello, sir. Yes, you. In the red. Who are you and why are you in there with them? We're live." Blonde boy looked like he was freaking out, so Viola put her hand on his arm making him look at her as she said, "Own it." Lucky was still trying to get the attention of the blonde boy, so Lucy walked up to Lucky and said, "Lucy Gray Baird and Viola Greenward, may I introduce you to my neighbors?" Lucky then said, "A response would be greatly appreciated, but anything would be nice. Hello? Can they not hear me in there?" Viola held Lucy and blonde boys' hand as Lucky said, "Well, that's something you don't see every day. They're holding hands. Yes, yes, yes. Who are you, sir? What are you doing in the cage here?"
"Hi. How do you do? My name is Coriolanus Snow. And these are my tributes. Lucy Gray Baird and Viola Greenward from District 12." Coriolanus spoke as Viola looked down at some little kids. "Hi there. What's your name?" The little boy smiled as he spoke back to Viola. "My name is Pontius." Viola smiled then looked at the little girl. "It's nice to meet you. Is this your sister?" Viola asked, making the boy nod. He brought her closer to Viola and said, "That's Venus. She's only four." Lucy then walked up and said, "Well, I think four is a very smart age to be." Venus then spoke up, "Where'd you find that snake?" Lucy smiled and said, "Well, he found me. Must have been a music lover. My singing calmed him right down."
Venus smiled but looked at both girls' dresses and said, "Can I touch your dress?" Viola nodded as Lucy said, "Of course. I like your dress too." Viola looked at Lucky and said, "Oh. And who might you be?" Lucky seemed confused on why she asked that. "You don't know who I am? Not everyone has televisions out in the districts. I'm Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman.
