Coco (genderbend Imelda x reader)

Chapter nine

3rd person pov

Pepita flies with Manuel on his back. They had just rescued Miguel, Y/n, and Héctor from the hole. Y/n was sitting behind Manuel, but she was watching Miguel.

Y/n was behind Manuel, who didn't day a word. Y/n didn't say anything either as she watches Miguel and Dante.

"Dante! You know she was my Mama Y/n the whole time!" Miguel smiled as he hugged the dog. "You are a real spirit guide!"

Suddenly, Dante started to change as his body was covered in colorful colors and wing. Y/n was watching withe wide eyes. She lets out a laugh seeing the dog now all neon colors. Especially the neon green nose. 

Dante jumps off Pepita and starts to fly and bark happily. 

Once they landed Manuel hugs Miguel close. "Mijo I was so worried! Thank goodness we found you in time."

Y/n stood off to the side with Hector. She flinches when Manuel glare at the two of them. Hector's hat was off. "And you two. How many times must I turn you away?" 

Y/n gulps. "Manuel-"

"I want nothing to do with you! Or your brother! Not in life, not in death." Manuel held Miguel closer. "I spent decades protecting my family from your mistakes." Y/n clenches her fists. Oh how she wants to slap his head off. "You don't know the full story! You All you do is judge us!" The woman snaps back at her husband. "Is that right?" Manuel hisses. "Miguel spends five minutes with you and I have to fish him out of a sink hold!" 

Miguel pulls away from Manuel and looks at him. "I wasn't in there because of them. They were in there because of me." He admits. Manuel still had an angry look on his face. "They were just trying to get me home." Miguel continues. "I didn't want to listen but they were right. Nothing is more important than family." Y/n gives a small smile while Manuel stares at the two sibling with wide eyes. Almost as if he can't believe what he is hearing. "I'm ready to accept your blessing and your conditions. But first I need to find De la Cruz to get their photo back."

"What?" Manuel frowns. 

"So Y/n can see Coco again. Y/n, Hector and Maria should be on our ofrenda. They're part of our family." Miguel says. "They left this family." Manuel points at them. "Y/n tried to go home to you and Coco. With Maria. But De la Cruz murdered them." Miguel informs. 

"Its true Manuel." Y/n gulps. "Who's Maria?" Manuel asks confused making Hector slowly step away from his sister. Y/n plays with her fingers. "When I left I found out I was pregnant. I waned to surprise you when I got home."

Manuel felt his body stiffen. "So I am just supposed to forgive you? You leave me alone with a child to raise. Then you never even tell me about the child you carried."

"Manuel-" Y/n suddenly cries out in pain and her body glows. She fell to the ground along with Hector. "Y/n? Hector?" Miguel runs over and kneels next to them. "We're running out of time." Y/n breathes out and looks at Miguel. "It's Coco." She choked out. Manuel walks over and kneels next to her. "He's forgetting you." Miguel and Hector help Y/n stand. 

Miguel looks at Manuel. "You don't have to forgive them, but we shouldn't forget them." It was then when Y/n noticed the rest of the family was there. Manuel sighs deeply. "I wanted to forget you. Both of you. I wanted Coco to forget you." Y/n looks down. "This is my fault. Not yours. Not Hectors. It's mine." She whispers. "I'm sorry Manuel." 

Manuel presses his lips together and looks at Miguel. "Miguel. If we help you get his photo, you will return home. No more music." Miguel looks up at Y/n who gave him a soft smile. "Family comes first." The boy says giving Y/n's hand a squeeze. 

Manuel looks at y/n and Hector. "I don't know if I can forgive you. Yet. But I will help you." His eyes fill with determination. "So how do we get to de la Cruz?"

Miguel thought for a moment before an idea sparks in his head. "I might have a way."

Y/n sighs. "Here we go again."
