Miguel opens his eyes to be greeted by sunlight and Ernesta's tomb. He saw the guitar next to him and ran fast out of the tomb. He passed by multiple graves that had flowers, gifts and photos. He had to get back to his Papa Coco.

He makes it to the family home only to be stopped by his abuela. "Where have you been?" She questioned. Miguel jumps. I need to see mama coco, please." He tries to get past her. Abuela gasps at the guitar. "What are you doing with that–GIVE IT TO ME!" She goes for the instrument but Miguel evandes her and makes it into Coco's room. He locks the door and ignores his abuela's cries.

Miguel looks at his papa Coco who sits in a wheelchair. He walks over and kneels in front of him. "Papa Coco? Can you hear me? It's Miguel." No reaction. "I saw your mama, sister and tio. Remember? Mama?" Miguel asks desperately "Please! If you forget him, they'll be gone. Forever." He chokes out. The banging on the door continues. Miguel grabs the guitar. "Here. This was your mama's guitar, right? She used to play it to you?" He pulls out a picture of Coco and Manuel with Y/n's face gone. "See? There she is! Mama! Remember? Mama?" Coco just looks away with no real emotion on his face. "Papa Coco, please! Don't forget him." He stands up backing away while panting. The sound of the door unlocking could be heard, but it sounded a mile away for Miguel.

Abuela walks in with Miguel's parents behind her. "What are you doing to that poor woman?" Miguel's father stood behind him. "What's gotten into you?" Miguel simply starts to sob softly. Miguel hugs his father who pulled the boy close. "I thought I'd lost you, Miguel." "I'm sorry papa." He cries. His mother joined the embrace. "We're all together now. That's what matters." She says. "Not all of us." Miguel cried.

Abuela was with Coco. "It's okay, papa." She turns and glares at Miguel. "Miguel, you apologize to your papa Coco." Hands on her hips. Miguel wipes his tears and walks closer to Coco. "Papa Coco?" His foot hit the guitar making him pause. "Well? Apologize." Abuela orders and more family members walked inside. Miguel steps over the guitar photo still in hand. "Papa Coco? Your mama wanted you to have this." he grabs the guitar and starts to strum. Abuela gasps and tries to stop him, but Miguel's father grabs her shoulder. "Remember me, Though I have to say goodbye, Remember me" Coco's hand starts to twitch. "Don't let it make you cry" The family watches with confused faces. "For ever if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart, I sing a secret song to you Each night we are apart" Coco's face starts to lift up. "Remember me, Though I have to travel far" He continues. "Remember me, Each time you hear a sad guitar" Coco joins in, making Miguel smile through his tears. "Know that I'm with you, The only way that I can be" Both were smiling while looking at each other. Abuela has tears in her eyes. "Until you're in my arms again Remember me"

Coco smiles at Miguel then looks over at his daughter. Abuela was crying with a smile on her face. "Elena? What's wrong, mija?" Coco asks while Abuela sniffles. Nothing, papa. Nothing at all." Coco smiles and looks at Miguel. "My mama used to sing me that song." Miguel sniffling. "She loved you, papa Coco. Your mama loved you so much." He chokes out. Coco lifts his hand and touches Miguel's face. Coco then used his other hand and reached into a drawer. "I kept her letters. Poems tio wrote. And..." He pulls out three pieces of paper.

Miguel takes them and looks at the photos. One was the missing piece of the photo of Coco and his parents. The next one was an awkward photo of Hector. The final one was of baby Maria sleeping. Miguel smiles and closes his eyes. "Mama and my tio were musicians. When I was a little boy...she and papa would sing such beautiful songs." Coco says. Miguel embraces him while the family watches with smiles.
