So, um, I have decided to expand this story a little more since I wanted to add more of their sweet time together for the lack of it. This kind of story tends to be that way but I realized it might feel too rushed that way. Now I just hope it doesn't feel forced or dragged.

Every pair of eyes that were in the chamber turned in one direction, their hands already on the handle of their swords. It wasn't like the enemy could easily enter the Whirlpool, but there were indeed enemies in their land right now. So it wasn't unexpected that they were startled when the door to the chamber opened loudly without advance notice.

"..." Queen Naruto who stormed in because of worry for his grandfather and the possible dispute shifted his gaze between the elders. Only realized what he did at their united exhale of breaths. He turned to look at his grandfather and didn't see anything aside from berating him of how he was being improper.

"I apologize for my rudeness."

"... Why are you here?" Leader Jiraiya questioned, even though he knew why the other might have shown up.

"I..." Before Queen Naruto could answer his grandfather's question, the door to the chamber was knocked and interrupted him.

"May I enter?" The voice asking for permission to enter made the queen who just left his king turn to look at the closed door instantly. The elders in the chamber also looked at each other before turning to look at the owner of the residence.

"You may enter, Your Majesty." Leader Jiraiya gave his permission to the one on the other side of the door. He looked at the young king who he had once tried to take the life of and it would have been such a shame if he had done that.

"..." Queen Naruto looked concerned at his companion as the said one came to stand beside him. Though he was worried, he was able to calm himself when the gentle gaze looked at him. Although there was no particular expression on the collected face, he could still perceive enough from that gaze that reflected his image.

"May I ask what you elders want to achieve by taking my life?" King Sasuke turned around toward the elders in the chamber to ask the question. He wondered, just what they were trying to get with his death. The throne? But it wasn't theirs to reign.

"You said your families and comrades die unjust but was it my late father's fault? Was it justice when you wanted his life when he wasn't the one who raised havoc in this land?"

"Even if he wasn't the one who took their life, he was at fault for delaying our return!" One of the elders claimed. Because that time, if the late king of Leaf did not give them hope by telling them to wait, they might have been able to return home sooner. And their families and comrades could have been saved.

"He told us to wait, but in the end, he refused to help us!"

"... My late father did not do it intentionally." King Sasuke understood only now why they blamed his late father. However, they didn't know why his late father did it. They didn't know his reason. And as his son, as someone who knew the reason, he needed to tell them what they had misunderstood.

"The day you went to plead help from my late father, I, who was barely one year old was sick. Because I was sick severely, barely keeping my life, my mother also got sick because of concern for me. My late father couldn't leave us and didn't have the strength to shift his attention to something else. As someone who was husband to a wife and father to their child, I believe you would have understood his feelings then."

"He should have still let us know sooner if he wasn't going to help!" Even after knowing the truth, the other did not feel any better. Still thought that if the king knew he wasn't going to help, he should have been frank. He should have told them from the beginning.
