Before the day ends, here is the update. ☺️ I wanted to hear how am I doing so far. Do it feel dragged? Now that the case of Toneri is closed, I think we could end this story with the next chapter. Personally, I think it might feel dragged but I have only added Toneri's case because I wanted to give SasuNaru some sweet scenes together. Even so, because of the genre of the story, I couldn't squeeze sweet scene that much and it become about crime in the end. Lol I even tried to squeeze in a steamy scene but decided to delete it because it doesn't feel right. 😅 So, next chapter will be the ending. 💪

Amid the first sunray of the morning, King Sasuke stood frozen on the spot with tears in his eyes when the sword of the enemy cut off the head of his queen. His eyes widened in terror as the body of his queen fell to the dirty ground and the face he liked to look at rolled off from its neck. Blood spurted everywhere before the head of his queen came to a stop in front of him. His whole body tightened in extreme pain as the blue eyes of his queen stared at him, not blinking even once.

"... Aah!!!" King Sasuke screamed out of his lungs at the terrible sight, his heart racing in his chest and clenched to the point he couldn't breathe. His body jerked up while tears fell from his eyes and soaked the fabric he was clutching.

"M-my king?!" The worried calling makes the one panting to turn around and look in the direction of the voice before his face crumpled. The one who saw such an expression didn't wait to pull the king of his heart with a heart that clenched in his chest. He had heard from Suigetsu about how his king was after he lost unconsciousness. He rubbed the one who sobbed in his embrace before comforting the frightened one;

"It was just a dream... just a nightmare and nothing else, my king."

"... I saw... I saw you dying. Ugh!" King Sasuke hugged his queen and feeling the warmth of the other, he was able to calm himself gradually. Only now did he see the surroundings and realize he was not where he last stood.

"We are... we are back in the palace?"

"It has been three days that you have been unconscious, my king." Queen Naruto pulled away slightly to look at the one who refused to let him go. He was still in the embrace of his king and he didn't force his way since it might scare the one who woke up frightened. When seeing the black orbs that still conveyed fear, he kissed away the tears, hoping it would be able to calm his king. Maybe because the last picture his king saw of him was him fainting, along with what happened just before that, the weary mind and fear of losing made the other dream something dreadful like that.

"... I am here, my king, here with you. Only in death do we part, I give you my word. Even so, I will not let anyone take me away from you so easily."

"... You scared me there." King Sasuke rested his head on the shoulder of his queen, looking up at his queen from there. Being able to sense the scent that calmed him from his queen, he closed his eyes again. His weary mind that had rested for three days traveled to the day he cried with relief before losing consciousness.

Flashback

As soon as the two groups clashed, Toneri went for the purpose of this assassination but because the king of Leaf shielded his queen, he had to go through him first. He realized at the first strike that his opponent was serious and not at all like the first time they met. The only advantage he would have was the concern the king had for his queen who was battling two of his men. But even that seemed not to have any usefulness since the king seemed to trust his queen's ability.

"... Give me your queen and I won't disturb you anymore." He said to the one he was able to land an attack in the side of his waist, calling a groan from the other. However, for his request, he was rewarded with a hard punch on his nose, sending him backward with dizziness.
