Unexpected Meeting

"Alex please come with us.You never come with us when we go out. Everly is with your mom right?"

Dina, one of the ladies at the office begs Alex. She was trying to get Alex out of his shell. He held every one of his work friendships at arms lengths. He knew every Friday night a large group of people from the office went out together.

Alex nodded. "She is. My best friend Rian and I are supposed to leave town tomorrow to go pick up a new truck for Ri. can he come with?"

Dina smiled. "Of course he can! I would love to meet your best friend!"

Allison winked. "Is he as adorable as you?"

Alex blushed. "I mean... depends on your taste. Rian is more muscular than me, and a lot more tattoos. He is a landscaper so he spends more time in the sun than I do."

Alex pulled out his phone and showed his background of him, Rian, and Everly the park together. He showed Dina and Allison.

Dina smiled and her eyes practically went starry. "Ohhhhhh is he single?"

Alex laughs. "Yes. But you have to get Everly's approval first. Uncle Ri has given her a complex and she has to approve every girl he dates. She has never been wrong so far." Alex said with a little laugh.

Allison smiled. "Well, I would agree to those terms."

Alex smiled and he threw the trash from his lunch away and texted Rian. "I will ask him if he wants to come. I will see you two later?"

Dina nodded. "I will text you the details."

Alex nodded and started texting.

Alex: Hey bud. The women/men at the office are begging me to go to the bar with them tonight since I am kid free after 7pm tonight.... And I may have roped you into coming with. But there is at least 2 women interested in you 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The bubble popped up. Showing Rian was texting.

Rian: Look I will agree only because I don't want you to get mad at me over something else.😬

Alex rolled his eyes. Thinking he knows what Rian is about to say.

Alex: What did you do?😳😳

Rian:Look.... You cannot blame me. It is hot outside today. I missed her a lot and needed Uncle Ri time, and you put me on the approved pick up list, and I wanted Ice Cream. 🍦

Rian sent a photo. It was Everly sitting across the table from him, and she was eating an ice cream cone. Her long brown hair up in a messy bun(about all Alex or Rian knew how to do)
Alex chuckled at his best friend and his daughter's antics.

Alex: Well she sure looks cute. Are you taking her back to your house with you until I get off work?

Rian responded back right away as Alex sat back down at his desk.

Rian: We were going to go to your apartment since I am probably going to crash on your couch after our night of drinking anyway. 🍻🍻

Alex: Fair enough. Love you both very much ❤️❤️

He clicked his phone shut and finished his workday. Agreeing to see everyone at Pulse at 10pm. Alex was not used to being up that late these days, but one night of drunken debauchery wouldn't kill him or his strikingly normal and boring life.

It was 10pm and Alex and Rian paid the taxi driver and walked over to the group of people waiting for them. "Hey everybody this is Rian." Alex said kindly introducing his best friend since middle school. Dina looked at Rian with hungry eyes. Alex smiled to himself. She was into him. Heavily in to him.
