As Zack and Alex walked hand in hand towards the cozy Italian restaurant in their neighborhood, Zack could feel the anticipation building in the air. It was his 30th birthday, and his husband Alex had promised a quiet dinner.
"Thanks for making me feel special babe. I can't believe we have a night alone. Feels like forever." Zack said softly as he squeezed Alex's hand in his.
"Oh yeah! I love having Rian and Dina as babysitters!" Alex said excitedly.
As he spoke, he picked up their hands and brought their intertwined hands to his lips, and he kissed the back of Zack's.
"I love you." Alex said softly as he opened the door for his husband.
Zack smiled. "I love you too."
When they arrived, Alex released Zack's hand.
"Wait here, I am going to speak with the hostess regarding our reservation." Alex said as he kissed Zack's cheek.
Zack nodded and gave a warm smile. "Ok honey."
After waiting a few moments, Alex returned. Expressing frustration about a botched reservation.
"Sorry, love. I called and said today, they must've messed up the date," Alex grumbled, he was upset.
Zack didn't miss the fact that his husband's eyes were twinkling with mischief. He tried not to think about it too much... worried he is up to something.
Zack chuckled, pulling Alex to him by wrapping his arm around Alex's waist.
"No worries, babe. Let's just head home and have a relaxing night. We can order Takeout and even eat on the couch naked, after you ravage me...since Everly's with the babysitters," Zack teased, a mischievous and flirtatious grin playing on his lips.
Alex's cheeks flushed pink as he returned the flirtation, his gaze lingering on Zack with adoration.
"I think you mean your birthday suit darling." Alex said with a giggle.
Zack giggled at the pun. With a nod, they made their way back to their townhome in Brooklyn, the anticipation growing with each step.As Zack and Alex strolled back hand in hand to their townhome in Brooklyn, the playful banter continued.
Alex couldn't resist flirting with his husband, his eyes alight with mischief as he teased Zack about their evening plans.
"So dinner after you let me ravage you in your birthday suit or after?" Alex said as he leaned closer to Zack.
"Oh.. birthday boys's choice?" Zack winked.
Alex nodded As they opened the door, cheers erupted, and Zack's heart skipped a beat. Zack's jaw dropped at the sight that greeted them. The living room was adorned with decorations, and familiar faces popped out from behind furniture, shouting, "Surprise!" he was greeted with hugs and well-wishes.
"You sneaky devil," Zack playfully scolded Alex, who grinned sheepishly.
Their seven year old daughter Everly dashed forward, wrapping her arms around Zack's waist.
"Happy birthday, Dad!" she squealed, her smile radiant.
Zack reached down and picked her up to wrap her in a hug.
"Thanks sweetheart. Did you help decorate? Me and Daddy were only gone like 45 minutes." Zack exclaimed.
She nodded. "Uncle Rian, Aunt Dina and Uncle Jack helped decorate while Grandma finished setting up the food!"
Zack kissed her temple. "Well aren't you the best!?" He said gently.
Amidst the joyful chaos, Alex and Zack mingled with their guests, sharing laughter and catching up with friends old and new.
