Chapter 2

I wake with a start. I sit up in bed and look at the digital clock. 8:07. Shit, I slept in! I jump out of bed and quickly get dressed, I rush down the stairs and notice that Hanna is sitting on the couch watching TV again.

"Hanna!" I shout. She spins around with the look of horror on her face. "Why aren't you walking to school yet?!" I yell at her. She sighs and jumps off the couch and grabs her school bag. I grab an apple from the kitchen and follow her out the door. One of Hanna's friends runs up to her and they skip off together laughing. I take a bite out of my juicy apple.

"That looks like a juicy apple." A voice says behind me. I jump and look behind me.

"Tyler! You scared me." I say clutching my chest. He chuckles. "I didn't know you lived in my neighbourhood!"

"Well now you know!" He smiles a beautiful smile that would make any girls heart melt.

"Good to know! Um, hey have you made any like, guy friends?" I say curious to know.

"I think I might have made one. I'll tell you if I have or not tonight." He replies. I nod my head, as I look up I see to school and I sigh.

"Well, Tyler, I shall see you later tonight!" I smile and he waves me goodbye as we head off in different directions. I meet up with Chloe and Kate as we head off to our next class. Gym.

"Right! Everyone down and give me 20!" Our gym teacher yells at us. You can almost see the veins popping out of his neck. Everyone mutters a curse and gets down to do 20 push ups.

"If one person in your team messes up then the whole team goes down with them!" He shouts into the big room. Once everyone is done doing the push ups we continue with the tortuous hell class.

After what feels like forever, the bell rings and almost every one sighs a relief. We go get our change of clothes in the locker and get changed as quickly as possible so we don't miss morning tea time. Chloe, Kate and I all sit down at our usual table and begin to munch happily on our food.

"God, gym is hell." Chloe states. Kate and I just nod our heads not bothered to answer her response. I look around the cafeteria and my eyes stop on Tyler, I see he's talking to Brody. Oh God. I quickly spin around pretending I saw nothing.

"What was that?" Kate asks as her lips form a devilish grin.

"Um, nothing." I say looking down at my food.

"I should probably head off to get going to the next class. I'll see you guys at lunch. Bye!" I quickly get up before Chloe and Kate can protest. I leave them with their mouths dropped to the floor. I put my food in the bin and quickly grab Tyler's big bicep and pull him out of the cafeteria.

"Hey!" He yells. "What the hell Alex?" He says with a look of confusion on his face.

"Look Tyler, you can make friends with whoever you like in this school except for Brody. Brody is off limits." I say.

"What? Why?"

"Because I said so. Now come on we should head to maths." I say tugging his big hand. "Alex no, you don't control what I can and can't do." He says pulling his hand out of my weak grip. Then he walks back into the cafeteria leaving me there in the empty hallway. I start walking off to maths class, annoyed with myself.

After a long day I start the walk towards the beach shack to start my 4 o'clock shift. Once I reach the beach shack I open it up and put all of the chairs down. I go into the kitchen to organise some stuff when I hear the bell ring meaning a customer has just entered the shack. I walk out of the kitchen to greet whoever it is.

"Hi, how can I" I stop mid sentence as I see who it is. "Tyler?"

"Alex?" He says at the same time as me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"I should ask you the same question."

"Look, Tyler I'm sorry for before."

"Alex don't apologise, it's me that should be apologising. I'm sorry for being an ass." He says scratching the back of his neck. I smile.

"That's ok Tyler." I say reaching my arms out wide. "Hug?" I ask. He nods his head and comes and scopes me up in a big bear hug. I sniff in his manly scent and try to act natural when he lets me go.

"Want to walk to school together, tomorrow?" He questions.

"Of course, see you then." I wave him goodbye as he walks out of the shack.

I wonder why he came in here?

"Look! Look! Look!" Hanna squeals. "It's back on, quick you're missing it!" She says jumping up and down. I walk back into the living room and take a seat next to Hanna as her favourite show the bachelor  comes back on. She sighs as they do a close up on the guys face.

"Isn't he just dreamy?" She half whispers. I stare at her weirdly.

"Ok, I'm going to go and do homework now, so goodbye, love puppy." I say getting up. Hanna doesn't respond she just continues to stare dreamily at the man on the TV. I head upstairs to my room to get all of my homework done. Not once in my whole school life have I ever gotten in trouble for not doing my homework. So yes, you can call me a goody two shoes, but I couldn't care less.

Once I'm sure that I've completed my homework to the best of my ability I decide to go back downstairs to get some food. Even though I had a big dinner at the shack I'm still feeling a bit peckish.

Half an hour later, I lay lazily on my bed feeling like I'm going to throw up at any minute. Yep, definitely going to the gym tomorrow. I feel my eyelids start to droop down but suddenly my bum vibrates. That's odd. Then I realise that it's my phone. I pull it out and look at the text message mum has sent me.

M: Your new work partner is coming on Thursday :)

That's two days away. I feel butterflies flutter around in my belly.

A: Cool, thanks again mum ;)

M: No worries, have a good sleep :D
