Colin had always enjoyed being around Pen, now that he realised he had feeling for her. All he wanted was to be alone with her. He pulled her into a room and closed the door. Then surprised her and opened the window. The breeze was refreshing considering how warm they were both feeling. He pulled her hand to him tightly, he kissed her delicate fingers. Closing the distance between them, he could feel the air between them heat up. He tilted her chin up to face him. Her eyes fluttered, she looked up at him with her bright blue eyes, which reflected his own feeling. Her plump lips started to tremble. Was she going to speak.
Before she could protest or overthink, Colin kissed her. Softly at first. He wanted more, but not here. Not like this. The kiss was sweet, passionate. She was glad for the cool refreshing breeze hitting her bust. Or she was sure her body would collapse to the floor. Pen never understood the power of a swoon. But here gazing into her one true love's eyes, she could help but feel overwhelmed.
Pen was thinking of very little. In fact all she knew was she didn't want to let him go. Never let him go.
He pulled away, all of a sudden "We can't do this here, Pen"
"Is there anyway to get to your room from here?" she was feeling brave. So brave that her passions were taking over.
"I think so, Pen" he sounded calm but if his heart beat was any louder he feared he may actually die. Penelope Featherington, wanton. Had a nice ring to it.
"Is this what you want Colin?"
"I want you, Pen. I feel like if I can't be with you I will burst into flames"
She wanted him too, all this time she believed he was made for someone else. But it was her this entire time. She was made for her best friend. Made for Mr Colin Bridgerton.
"Pen, may I ask you something. Before we continue"
She nodded a yes.
He reached for his coat pocket that was over Pens shoulders. It was a small box. A small green velvet ring box. Pen's eyes grew wide.
"Pen, will you marry me?"
A single tear ran from her eyes, she wiped it away. "You wish to marry me?"
"Pen. I care for you" he said matter of factly "I am sorry it took me so long to realise, it took other men to stand in my path before I realised, that it was you I wanted. That I needed"
"Penelope Featherington?" he continued
"Yes" she paused for a few seconds "I will marry you"
Colin smiled, embracing her once more. She stopped him all of a sudden.
"Can we keep the proposal to ourselves though"
Colin frowned hard "Whatever do you mean?"
"My mother is difficult as you are aware. Would you be able to ask again but in front of her? She would not believe unless we show her, you will need to ask Cousin Jack permission as well. You may inform your older brothers and your mother though. I have a lot of affection for Lady Bridgerton, I just don't want it being the gossip of the town before my mother hears"
Her logic made sense "Whatever you want me to do, Pen"
"Well... I can think of a few things, right now"
That was it. He couldn't take it any more, he rushed her through the window. Away from prying eyes.
He pulled her around to the flower terrace where it was more discreet. Started to kiss her once more, unable to control his passions. He leaned her against a tree, started moving his hands down her curves. His fingers started to untie her corset delicately, removing it so he could get under the soft muslin under dress. The first thing he wanted to do was test the feel and weight of her breasts, he was getting even more turned on thinking about it.
