His hands were either side of her cheeks. He looked so deep into her eyes she thought she may faint. He embraced hers lips once more. This was more than a kiss.

He started to poke her lips open with his tongue. She accepted his sweet invasion. His tongue caressing hers. She did not know what she was doing, but then neither did he. This wasn't just her first kiss. But his also. Anyone would think the Mr Colin Bridgerton had been kissed many times before. This was not the case. Anthony offered to take him to brothels since Marina had broken his heart. But he had rejected such an offer.

Travel would engross him, even though it was an escape, he couldn't help but feel joy. Everytime he opened a letter from Pen. Now he knew why she meant so much to him. He really cared for her. The concept of her finding someone else when he was away wouldn't have been like a gunshot to his heart. For here she was looking ever so desirable. He wanted her, more than breath. More than life.

He told Miss Marina Thompson that he would not ruin her honour and his own. But seeing Pen look up at him like she had. It made him feel warm, feel weak, and hoping she didn't notice, rather aroused at the same time. He could not control himself. She was everything. She was Pen. He only wished he realised earlier.

He slowly pulled her into the shadows, leaning her against a tree, as his tongue made its way to her neck once more, she tasted sweet. Pen was gasping small breaths. Her breath in his ear was driving him crazy. She, was driving him crazy.

He should not be kissing a gentle bread young lady in the shadows in the garden of his family estate. If she wasnt leaning against the tree, Pen was sure that her legs would forsake her. Was this seduction because she felt she wanted more, wanted everything. Although she did not know what that would mean.

"Oh, Pen"

"Oh, Penelope"

Colin lifted her up by her bottom, letting her legs wrap around him so his arousal was felt against her leg. She gasped, feeling him hard against her. His kiss became harder and ever so wanting. She was surprised more than anything that he could hold her so domineering.

What a strong physique that must be under that shirt. Those breaches. She desperately wanted to find out what he looked like. What all of him looked like. Her mother drew her a diagram once, and she could see it in paintings. Is that what a man's area looked like. Looked frightfully odd. But the way he was pushed next to her, it felt rather thrilling, also. Her hand moved from his shoulder to his back, making its way up his shirt. Grazing his back. By his shudder she could tell he liked her movements. God, how she wanted him. In all the ways he wanted to show her.

"Colin"

"Colin" she spoke more stern, her whisper husky "I think I hear someone coming"

Colin jumped, placing her softly on the ground, motioning her behind a tree to hide with him.

They could hear laughs as a group of three men walk past, one of them Lord Fife.

"She definitely seems like she is eager for a man's attention" one voice said

"She isn't the prettiest of Ladies, but her breasts are rather large, if only she would let me get her in a broom closet" The laughs continued. Pen looked at Colin. They knew that was Lord Fife, and he was speaking about Pen. Pen held Colin's arm. She knew he would go for Fife if he got the chance. His fist was already clenched, and all he could see was red.

"I think you will have a fight on your hand, all the Bridgertons obviously want a go with her first"

"Perhaps I could pay them, for a go!" if he only knew how close he was to death by Colin's hands. He laughed hard, then they made their way back to the house.

Pen's face was focused on the ground, her eyes shaded in the light. As she turned a little Colin could see the light highlight a tear running down her face. Colin wiped it with his thumb. Her lip trembled. It was killing him seeing her like that. How dare any man make her cry, worst of all bloody Fife.

"Maybe, I am not worth" her face expression showed a hint of detest, she motioned at Colin "Any of this!" Pen ran off before Colin got a word in.

He could not shout out her name or chase her, if he was seen, worse if she was. What would Lady Whistledown write about the situation. Something cruel perhaps. He couldn't do that to her. Not to Pen.

Anthony spotted Penelope the moment she walked into the hall. He ran to her escorting her straight out.

"Anthony?" she protested

"Pen, what happened?"

"What do you mean?"

"Pen, your hair looks loose, and I can tell you have been crying. So I ask again. What. Happened?"

He sat her down and let her explain. She lied most of the story, telling him she wondered off 'unchaperoned' to get some air as she was getting a headache and overheard the men talking.

"Men can be idiots. Fife is..i'm going to kill him." He took out a napkin and handed it to her "Pen. Men like them do not deserve your tears. You are wonderful, Pen. In every respect"

Pen tried forcing a smile "When I get my hands on his neck"

"Anthony!" she scorned

"Apologies, perhaps I will let Daphne at him, see if he can defend himself then"

She laughed "Anthony" he smiled "How about I get you a carriage?"

"Do I look that bad?" she frowned.

"I would usually say no, but you look like you've been through a hedge backward, and I do not wish for more hurtful words toward you tonight. Or I fear I may start an all out war"

Penelope took a deep breath, Anthony would fight half the ton for her just to make her feel better, she was sure of it. He was more surprising by the day.

"Anthony. Thank you"

"You are more than welcome. Miss Penelope"

He motioned his arm "Milady"

She smiled "Milord"

Before Penelope stepped in the carriage, Anthony added "Wouldn't it be a shame Miss Penelope if Lady Whistledown writes of such cruel words of a Lord Fife" he winked

That was an idea. Penelope loved that idea. See how he feels when I sully his reputation.

"I will visit you for a promenade in the morning if you wish?"

"That would be a pleasure, My Lord"

Colin sat next to the tree. Feeling like an idiot.

He could see Anthony and Pen talking. He was there for her, wiping her tears. Calming her down. He wished that was him comforting her. How could she ever think she wasn't enough. Another thought crept in. What if Anthony does have feelings for her, now a hint of jealousy was creeping in and it was breaking Colin's heart.

He closed his eyes imaging her lips, her breath, her warmth. Maybe, it was he, that didn't deserve Pen.
