"Good morning, Miss Featherington"

"Good morning, Mr Bridgerton"

"May you do me the honour of letting me escort you to Lady Danbury's soirée"

Penelope looked at him "That would be lovely, Mr Bridgerton"

For some reason since they kissed, they became more formal, almost as though they were both nervous, shy even. The Soiree wasn't for another week, but Colin was concerned someone would ask her first. He wanted her to be his so desperately, he was pretty sure he would take on any man that got in his way. Even if it was a family member or two.

Penelope did not know what box to put Colin in. On one hand he was her friend and had been a long time and never made any advance because she wasn't sure if she would ruin what they had.

On the other, she wished they could be alone right now so she could let him embrace her once more. She found herself catching him glancing at her with such a passion, it made her feel undeniably weak.

So many things he could do to her and by all means, all she would be willing to participate in. Pen did not know much of men and what she did know was to let them have their passions.

But she wanted to show him what she felt. What had been burning up through her stomach since the day they met. She wasn't scared but unsure what may happen if they kissed again. God, please could they kiss again. She was so surprised by his kiss, after thinking for so long that he was made for someone else, perhaps she was wrong.

There was a niggling thought at the back of her mind. What if Colin merely wanted to show her how to kiss, to help with a future potential suitor of the ton. That would break her in two.

Anthony arrived as Colin was leaving, they glanced at each other as they passed. What the devil was Colin doing here. Anthony's head tilted his head "Brother?"

"Brother" Colin smartened his jacket as he passed his brother on the steps. They both dispensed their pleasantries, and went on their way. Not talking for longer, that was necessary. Anthony wasn't ready to inform Coin of his deal with Miss Penelope and Colin didn't want to inform his oldest brother of a certain incident that happened in the gardens at the last ball. Well, incident was probably not the word. Euphoric passion was a better turn of phrase, to be sure.

"Good morning, Lord Bridgerton. How lovely it is to see you"

"Good morning. Are you ready to promenade Miss Featherington?"

"Very ready in fact" Pen put her hand through his arm. While they were chaperoned by Cousin Jack and Pen's sisters. Phillipa was linked with Mr Finch, who would make a charming brother in law. He had a friendly smile and a hearty laugh. Also appreciated the scribblings of Lady Whistledown, which made him at least one soon to be family member she held some sort of affection for.

Anthony directed Pen along the bridge, while she smiled at the beautiful flower aranges. Anthony picked a flower from a pot and handed it to her. It was a beautiful white rose. Pen held it to her nose, and breathed in its sweet scent. "How are you feeling today, Pen?"

"Im okay, thank you for asking"

"Pen....?"

"Truly, I am well, I just wish to put it behind me" she shot him a small forced smile.

"Pen. I hope you are being truthful. You are afterall one of the toughest young ladies I have ever met. Show no heed. You are better than them. You are brilliant"

"You are too kind, Anthony"

He smiled at her response, but felt she was keeping something from him.

"I have to tell you something important"
