My gaze kept flickering to Gerard's knuckles, which had turned white as they gripped the steering wheel, and to the rhythmic clenching and unclenching of his jaw.

As his car zoomed into the hospital parking lot, I swiftly exited, following closely behind him as he hurried towards the entrance.

I made sure to note the name of the hospital as we passed by.

Romani.

As we reached the entrance to the ward, my eyes caught sight of a woman with long black hair, fading into a light blue hue at the tips. Her head was bowed, and another woman gently patted her back.

The color of the woman's hair grabbed my attention-it was blonde, the same shade as my mother's. For a moment, I wondered if she was Gerard's mother, but as she looked up at us, I realized I was mistaken.

Her face was an exact replica of my boyfriend's. My gaze shifted from theirs to two men standing by the right side, who appeared more like guards.

"Mum," Gerard's voice echoed as he rushed toward them, stopping a few steps away. I walked as quickly as I could to catch up.

"Oh... thank the heavens you're here," his mother murmured, her puffy, crimson eyes glimmering with relief as she gazed at him.

"What happened?" He stood near his mother, his eyes locked on the girl I presumed was El, whose face remained buried in Gerard's mother's lap.

"The housekeeper called El and said she just collapsed and lost consciousness. There's no operation underway, but we're really concerned about when she'll wake up," his mother blurted out, her words rushed with worry.

"When will that be? It shouldn't be taking this long for her to regain consciousness," another loud sob escaped El as she lifted her face.

And in that moment, I realized I was witnessing one of the most stunning girls I had ever seen. Despite her swollen eyes and the hint of a runny nose, she was still breathtaking.

It made me wonder what Gerard saw in me to choose me over someone like her.

"When?" she cried out, her voice cracking, and Gerard gently comforted her, assuring her that everything would be alright.

But I couldn't overlook the tight clenching of his fist.

I yearned to meet El. I also had a desire to meet his mother, but I hadn't anticipated meeting either of them under these circumstances.

I swallowed hard, taking a few steps back until Gerard's mother noticed me.

"Hey, dear. Come over here and take a seat," she said softly, gesturing to a chair opposite her.

I gave her a quick nod and murmured a "thank you" before walking over, facing El directly, whose gaze remained fixed on the door of the ward.

I found myself wishing I could offer El more comfort than Gerard was providing, but I remained seated, silent, contemplating what might be going through her mind.

If it were my mother in this situation, I knew I would be consumed by fear and anguish, almost driven to madness.

Two hours slipped by in what felt like mere moments, and soon we were informed that El's mother had regained consciousness. I watched her rush inside, with Gerard and his mother following closely behind.

I let out a sigh of relief, unlocking my phone to check for any messages from my mum or junior, but none appeared.

A few minutes later, Gerard emerged, his eyes locked on me.

"How is she?" I inquired, rising to my feet.

"She's alright," he chuckled, and I nodded. "Uh... they want to see you."
