The members of the 118 rush to the site of a hit-and-run that leaves a familiar face in critical condition. Meanwhile, with Buck and Ashleigh's help, Athena investigates the case of a missing woman last seen in a casino and Josh recalls an emergency in 2006 that led him to become a 9-1-1 operator.
It had been a few weeks since the accident...
Ashleigh and Buck were at the cinema watching a movie together, and they were giggling and throwing popcorn at each other.
The next night at a shop, a guy walked out pushing a trolley of groceries, seeing a security guard...
"Oh, she'll like some flowers. Yeah. Oh, uh... hey there. I... I'm sorry to bother you. Would you mind keeping an eye on my cart for a minute? Daffodils are my wife's favourite." He said.
"Pretty sure they put this thing outside so you could grab your flowers on the way in to the store."
"I... I'd just really like to surprise her. She's waiting in the car. I promise it'll only be a minute." He says.
"I'm not supposed to, but make it quick."
"Thank you." He muttered, grabbing the daffodils and running back into the store."
Sue was sitting in the car on the phone...
Sue: "No. We... we have to put our foot down. The call center is not a tourist attraction. I appreciate the councilman's interest, but we can't have him and his cronies parading through the office. No, just tell him no, please."
She was staring at the store, frowning softly.
Sue: "Listen, let me call you back."
Sue hung up, throwing her phone off the seat, and climbed out of the car.
"No, no, no, no! No, no, wait! W... w... wait! Stop! Stop!" Sue shouted.
The guy walked out of the store, holding the daffodils. Suddenly Sue screamed, being hit by a car, and the security guard ran over.
"God, no!" He shouted, dropping the daffodils and running over to Sue.
"Ma'am, are you okay? I've got a pulse."
"Oh, my God. You said you were gonna stay in the car." He muttered, kneeling down beside Sue.
"She's alive. I... I'm calling 911."
"W... wait, start with the address. Always give the address first." He tells her.
Dispatch: "911. What's your emergency?"
Officer: "I'm at Fields Market on Third and La Brea. There's a woman in the parking lot. She's been hit by a car. It's real bad."
The 118 arrived on the scene, and the firefighters jumped out of the truck...
"Car was parked over by the dumpster. He hit the gas, then he hit her. Looked pretty bad."
"And he just took off?" Asked Bobby.
"Didn't even slow down."
"Hey, you're gonna be okay, sweetie. Help is here."
"Sir? Sir, why don't you just step back? Let my team have a look." Bobby says.
Ashleigh held the woman's head, and Hen turned her. Ashleigh's eyes widened, realising who it was.
"Airway's clear, but her breathing's laboured. Definitely a broken femur here. Ash." Hen says.
"I know her." Ashleigh said.
"What?" Buck asked.
"It's Sue Blevins. From the call center. Yeah, Maddie's boss." Ashleigh tells them.
Bobby stared down at Sue.
"Head injury is pretty severe. Pupils are uneven. Possible subdural hematoma. We need oxygen over here, guys!" Ashleigh shouted.
Buck handed her the oxygen, and Sue groaned lightly while Hen put a neck brace on.
"Oh, come on, Sue. We can run an IV en route. Sue, can you hear me?" Ashleigh asked, fastening the neck brace around Sue's neck.
"Most likely a broken rib, maybe two." Hen tells Ashleigh.
"Oh, I know how that feels; trust me." Ashleigh mumbled.
Sue coughed.
"Probably a punctured lung as well. Let's get her on the board. One, two, three." Ashleigh murmured, lifting Sue onto a board.
Sue groaned.
"Nine... one..." Sue mumbled.
"What's she saying?" Buck asked.
"Nine... one." Sue mumbled.
"911?" Eddie asked.
"We're here, Sue. We got you." Said Ashleigh.
"Nine... one..." Sue mumbled.
Ashleigh stood up straighter, standing beside the officer.
"He was inside buying flowers for her while someone was trying to kill her."
"Thought this was an accident." Ashleigh says, frowning at her.
"The guy never took his foot off the gas, like he wanted that lady dead."
Ashleigh frowned.
"Nine... one..." Sue mumbled.
