"But how will we introduce you?" Rudra asked.
They all were sitting on her room. Rudra in her bed and she on the edge of it and Om on the window seat.
"Harsh uncle, mentioned that you're thinking of changing your job." Om asked. Annika nodded. "Kind off. I have been working there for three years yet—I need to grow." She explained.
"The job is very well paying though. And you're at an impressive position." Rudra commented.
"Not better than ours though."
"Huh?" Annika frowned.
"There's a vacancy. Apply for it. Mishra usually handles the recruitments. Taking your qualifications, you will get the job in no time. You wanted to grow. Consider it done." Om smirked. Annika was left to contemplate. She lived in Pune with a well paying job and reputed position. Though she had been thinking of changing the job, was it worth the risk?
"Okay, but I will not be resigning until I get the preposition." Om nodded. Rudra sighed. "Can we go back to Mumbai now?" Rudra whined, he was cocooned in a blanket. He definitely didn't like the cold. Annika chuckled and turned on the room heater.
"Bhaiya is calling. Why do you keep your phone silent?" Rudra pointed at the phone in his hand. The screen was green indicating the incoming call. Annika's eyes widened slightly. Om observed this.
"Shivaay?"
And after so long she finally heard his voice. It was muffled. Her hands fisted on the blanket that Rudra was holding. She pretended that she wasn't affected, but Om knew better.
"Rudra, he wants to talk to you." And instead of passing the phone to him, he turned on the speaker phone so that Annika too could hear that.
"Rudy? You were in my study a few days ago? Khanna informed me that."
His voice now filtered in the room. His voice was deeper now, by a few octaves. There was a stern tone to it. Annika had no reason to feel that way after hearing her best friend's voice after a decade. It should be normal right? Rudra and Om were observing her.
"Rudy? Om?"
"Khanna ki toh main—" Rudra muttered. Not one thing he can keep to himself. He had specifically told him not to inform him but no! Om shot him a glare.
"I was looking for you." He made up an excuse.
"In my locker?" Shivaay's voice was amused.
"Woh to main bus..." Rudra trailed off and on the other side Shivaay shook his head fondly. He chuckled.
"Anyways, when's your trip ending?" He asked.
"In a couple of days we'll be back in the mansion. And we have a surprise for you." Rudra smirked. Om and Annika's eyes widened and they both clamped their hands upon his mouth to stop him from blurting any more. His voice came out muffled.
"Surprise? For me? Kya baat hai." Om chuckled nervously. "I wasn't meant to know that?" Shivaay guessed from the reaction. "Absolutely not!" And the call was hung up.
Shivaay blinked. What the hell?
Seriously, now. What are they up to? First they made a trip to Manali after lying to him that they were going to Goa. Then Rudra broke into his study.....his locker....wait a damn minute. The surprise...
Could it be? No, he is overanalyzing things. He have to. But if it's true then he will never be able to thank his brothers enough.
He rushed into the study and opened the locker. The letter was still there, just the way he had left.
