Chapter XXIV: Swimming with Apologies

Niall’s POV

I never knew anyone could hurt me that much. Two of the most important people in my life just shattered my heart. How could they do that to Anna and me? The thought of Anna crying made my heart break. It was the morning after her birthday Liam, Zayn, Pat, and Kayne were out of sight. I went in Louis’ room where I saw Anna lying down. “I’m sorry Anna for everything.” I said. “Why are you sorry?” she asked. “Well, if I never hung out with you yesterday none of this would have ever happened.” I said. “Nialler, don’t think that way. I won’t take back anything that happened yesterday. You were the only one there for my birthday. It’s not your fault. Liam was the one who messed up. He didn’t trust me. He jumped to conclusions and had to drag Pat in his misery.” She said. “He didn’t drag her into anything. He didn’t force her to kiss him back, but she did. So some part of her wanted to kiss Liam.” I said. I was done talking about what happened last night so I just smiled at her. “Did you want to do anything today?” I asked. “Can we go to the waterpark today?” She asked with her cute puppy dogface. “I’ll ask the others.” I said. I went downstairs and saw that everyone was in the living room. I shrugged before going in.

“Hey guys, who is up to go to the water park today?” I asked smiling and ignoring Pat. “Niall can we talk?” Pat asked. I nodded and we headed to the kitchen to get some privacy. “I’m really sorry for what happened. I didn’t mean to do any harm.” She said. “Whatever happened last night already happened. We can’t take it back. Sorry for being the one to say this but it’s over between us Pat. I needed you to trust me. We were together for a long time and out of you and Liam you should be the responsible one. You should have backed away from him. We had a really good thing but I don’t think I can ever trust you again. You kissed one of my best mates and you also hurt one of your good friends.” I said calmly trying not to cry. “Niall, if you were in my position and saw pictures of me and Liam how would you react?” She asked. “I’d trust you. I wouldn’t make any assumptions that you were cheating on me. Did you see my tweets? I said Anna was one of my best friends. You proved to me that you didn’t trust me at all. I can just forget about it and get back together with you. I’m sorry.” I said walking away. I went in the bathroom and washed my face. It was hard to walk away from someone you were with for a long time, but I knew I had to.

Anna’s POV

I was waiting for Niall to tell me if the lads and girls wanted to go to the water park. I heard a knock and when I looked it was not a Niall. It was Liam. “Anna, can we talk?” He asked. “Like I have any other choice.” I said annoyed. “Please don’t be like this. I just wanted to apologize.” He said softly. “Be like what Liam? I’m mad and hurt you shouldn’t be expecting a warm welcome.” I said back. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to kiss her. I was jealous and I was upset I didn’t get to spend your birthday with you.” He said softly. “Liam, I’m sorry I can’t do this anymore. We can still be friends. You kissed one of my really close friends. You didn’t just ruin our relationship you ruined Niall and Pat’s relationship as well.” I said. “When you spent the day with Niall you looked so happy. I have never seen you look at me the way you look at him. I have never seen you that happy. I’m sorry for not giving you what he can give you.” He said and walked out of the room. Before I could give it anymore thought Niall came in. “They said yes! We’re going in an hour so get ready.” He smiled and winked. “Thanks Nialler for yesterday.” I said. “No problem. I’m glad at least I made your birthday a little less dreadful.” He smiled and left so I could get ready.

I started to look for an outfit. I settled with a cream Farrow top, which was a crochet back cropped swimsuit top. It was like a cropped tank top style. I matched it with RVCA shorts that had a frayed hems and front printed fabric overlay. I finished the outfit with slippers and Niall’s snapback. I let down my wavy long hair thanks to the extensions and brought w hair tie so I can put my hair in a bun later. The snapback grew on me. I like it so much. I smiled looking in the mirror. I promise to myself whatever happened yesterday will not get me into a bad mood. I consider today my birthday celebration with my friends.
