With the battle over and the Sparrows caught, the Marines sailed toward Navy HQ.
Toward judgement.
Meanwhile, the Black Pearl and the Obsidian Dawn sailed side by side in the opposite direction toward the moon lit horizon.
Toward freedom.
Both Pirate crews were nearly in tears by this unfortunate outcome, but they contained themselves. Because the newest member of the Sparrow family was safely sleeping in her mother's arms.
After the battle, Miren explained how Aokiji spared their lives, stunning everyone into silence. Then the Black Pearl crew explained what transpired on Garp's ship. To the crews horror, they were stunned to find out their first mate had been a traitor all along. But they gave him the benefit of the doubt considering they were now free. Their feelings were conflicted, but they were thankful to Eryx sacrifice and Aokiji's mercy.
As for Aurelia, they broke the news to her gently. . . The mother handled it with grace and shed a few bitter tears.
She knew it was wishful thinking when she asked Sorin to promise he'd return.
Now a day after the epic showdown, she knew what she needed to do as she laid in bed cradling their child. In the past, her and Sorin had many discussions. One of them was about where her and the baby would go if anything were to happen to him.
Aurelia looked down at her sleeping daughter and held back tears as she reminisced about that day.
It was back in Las Tortugas in the West Blue a month after she told Sorin she was pregnant. The couple were having a picnic on the shore away from prying eyes, overlooking the sea and the horizon. He held her in his lap and had his arms wrapped around her belly endearingly. They were talking about baby names first, but then the conversation took a turn:
"How about the name Orion?"
"Um. . . No."
"Okay, well, how about Will? I've always liked the name Will." He tried.
"What if we have a girl? You need to think about girl names too!" She laughed and turned her head to look up at him.
"I don't know about that. . ."
