✰ ✰ ✰Just a few of minutes south from downtown Atlanta, there is a small neighborhood called Pine Creek. It's just your regular black suburbans. A shell's gas station where everyone takes pictures at, a couple of fast food places, and a publix where you're for sure going to run into someone you know at.
In the middle of all this, there is a huge subdivision where sixteen year old, Sokani stay. She lives in your average two story tract house that's shape is unproportional. She is also pretty much known by everyone in her community, mainly because she's a braider.
Sokani has made so much money from braiding hair, she will at least make six hundred dollars a week from it. Since her business started flourishing, her mom Selah transformed their old, crusty shed in their backyard, to a beautiful salon.
The shed is all white with the inside looking like it came straight from Pinterest. It has everything you will find in a salon and a black futon on the back wall. Also, there isn't much color, everything is neutral colors. She just wanted something simple.
Right now, she is finishing her last twist on her clients hair. She has been twisting for what feels like forever—it's actually has been five hours. She doing butt length bohemian Senegalese twists and those can take a minute.
Once she finishes the last twist—she feels a sense of relief. She's not all the way done yet, she still has to do the client's edges. She sighs before grabbing her pink edge brush and edge booster. She does some simple edges and puts moose on the girl twist—meaning she's officially finished.
"Alright, I'm done." Sokani excites, her silvery voice tings with joy. She admires the finished product before giving the girl a black heart shaped mirror, so she can see her hair.
Sokani folds her lips to hide her excitement, she feels like she did an outstanding job on the girl hair. She loves seeing her clients reaction. She cannot wait to see her client's mouth drop.
The client folds her lips as well, moving the mirror slowly around her head. "Ight. How much is it?" Jayla mutters with no expression on her face while giving the mirror back.
"Umm two hunnid, just cash app me." Sokani replies, her excitement fades immediately due to being thrown off. As she sits the mirror on the desk next to her she asks her a quick question. "Can I get a picture though?"
"No." Jayla groans in annoyance before grabbing her grey Kurt Geiger purse from beside her, hopping out the chair, and leaving out the shed door in the blink of an eye.
