Gio stretch out across the velvet blanket underneath him, finally opening his eyes. He feels a bit disoriented as he sits up straight. His eyes meet Jeremiah's bed room and gets a sinking feeling in his stomach. The realization of getting kicked out is finally hitting him.

Gio glances over at his best friend, who is sleeping peacefully on the other side of the room. Gio has his own bed in Jeremiah's room since he's there all the time. They pretty much share the bedroom, so they're completely comfortable with each other sleeping over.

Jeremiah's room is a compact, square space with minimal furniture, just two beds and a desk that holds his gaming setup. His room is very decorated with decor in every inch of his room. The walls are adorned with colorful posters, featuring a mix of anime characters and famous rappers. He has clear shoe bins stacked up against the walls. LED lights run along the edges of the walls, casting a blue hue. Also, all of his furniture is black which gives a cozy feel.

Gio pulls himself out of his bed, stretching as he gets up. He quietly leaves the bedroom, careful not to wake Jeremiah. The hallway is dimly lit, with soft morning light filtering through a nearby window. Gio makes his way to the hall bathroom and handles all his needs.

Gio exits the bathroom and walks toward the kitchen. The closer he gets, the louder the old school R&B music fills the house. Jeremiah's mom, Raven, is at the stove cooking breakfast. The delicious aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly made french toast fills the room. Raven is completely immersed in the music, her voice matching Lauryn Hill's, enunciating every single word of "Doo Wop" perfectly.

Gio immediately starts singing along with the song, feeling a sense of warmth spread in his chest. A burst of dopamine floods his mind, creating a wave of positive energy. "Guys you know you'd better watch out. Some girls, some girls are only about...That thing, that thing, that thing. That thing, that thing, that thing." They both sing in sync. His voice cracking a lot because he cannot sing.

Jeremiah's uncle, Eli trudges into the cramped kitchen with a mug expression on his face. Gio's nose fills with the scent of weed the second he walks by. Eli is in his late twenties, a few years younger than Raven. They both are laid back and more relaxed when it comes to rules.

"Damn Eli. You smoked already." Gio voice.

"Hell yeah! Sis, when's yo big-headed ass gonna be done cooking? I got the munchies bad," Eli asks, raising his voice over the blaring music. His eyes widen with impatience, and he licks his dry, cracked lips, a clear sign of his hunger. He hops onto the counter, his legs swinging restlessly as he waits, his stomach growling audibly in the noisy kitchen.
