"Granny, you gon love this restaurant." Sariyah beams, her eyes twinkling due to being in joy. She slides into the red leather booth seat with ease. She continues to scoot over until she reaches the end of the seat.
Ria slowly walks towards the table, using her cane for support as Selah walks behind her to catch her mom if she falls. "I betta like dis restaurant." Ria mumbles while aggressively planting her cane into the floor in order to stop. She plops in the beat and leans her head on back of the booth. Not even bothering to scoot over for Selah—she is that tired.
Right now, they're at a local italian restaurant which is also their favorite food place. The Harper family goes there a lot. The workers there even know their names. They love to come there since the food is good every time.
Sokani slides into the booth beside her sister. She doesn't even have to look at the menu, she knows exactly what she wants. She opens her kid menu and the frail crayons the restaurant gave her, so she will have something to do while she waits for the waiter.
As Sokani does a word search, Sariyah starts digging into her purse, the sounds of paper being crushed and items being tossed around fills Sokani's ears. Sokani looks over at her sister while wrinkling up her nose.
Sariyah pulls a big red box out of the depths of her small black 'telfar' bag before speaking. "Y'all tryna play uno?" Sariyah asks, sliding the box of uno cards across the wooden table top.
Ria looks up from her android and scrunches her face up making the few wrinkles she has on her face become more prominent. "Wha is dis uno?" Ria questions as she looks around at her family for answers.
"Issa card game, we will teach you!" Sariyah exclaims, her voice gradually becoming more high pitched. She opens the deck of cards and passes them to Sokani to shuffle since she cannot do it herself.
Sokani shuffles the card with ease before splitting the deck in half. She gives the cards to Sariyah who starts passing them out quickly, the cards rubbing together making a satisfying noise every time she picks up a card from the deck.
"Why dey rainbow?" Ria inquires, one of her eyebrows raises. Sokani burst out laughing, her laughter is contagious which causes her mom and sister to start as well. This leaves Ria even more confused. "Wha's funny?"
"Granny they different colors to help distinguish the different types of cards." Sariyah explains, once she stops laughing. She shakes her head and grabs her stack of cards a smile a bit.
Sokani also picks up her cards to organize them before they start playing. Then, she feels like phone buzz's in her pocket. She pulls it out getting a flood on notifications from her hair account. She clicks on one of the messages and unlocks her phone seeing a hateful message.
