Chapter 1: Flavoured Beans and Unmistakable Genes
Fifth Year | 1890
"Flavoured Beans again!" a Slytherin with blonde hair and porcelain skin exclaimed. She shook her head in disappointment at the brown-haired wizard, who excitedly ripped open his new pack of Bertie Bott's Every Flavoured Beans.
She found him outside of the school grounds, sitting atop a stone bench. She brushed her robe flat behind her before taking a seat beside the lad, "You never learn, do you? What will you moan about today? ...Cow dung?"
She hugged her cloak tight around her body. Summer had ended weeks ago, and the weather had started growing cold. Autumn leaves detached themselves from the branches and danced in the air before gracefully landing, piling on top of one another.
His lips formed a smirk.
He's Sebastian Sallow, a fellow Slytherin and classmate. They had grown close since her third day in Hogwarts and after he accompanied her to retrieve her school supplies in Hogsmeade.
She did not intend to let anyone in and be attached. But here they were—as thick as thieves.
"You're gross," he replied before throwing a piece into his mouth, "—And not everything's bad. Ooh this one's mint. Besides, I like the thrill of not knowing what you're going to have."
This brought her into contemplation. She suddenly thought about how the Flavoured Beans were similar to her day-to-day life. Waking up and not knowing what today would bring. She had to face trials and enemies daily and every time — she feared about not having the same luck of being alive at the end of the day.
"I wish my life isn't the same as the Flavoured beans, though," she admitted, "What I would give to be bland. You know, experience Hogwarts as a normal student." Her throat was strained as she said this; either due to the cold temperature or impending tears.
This did not go unnoticed to Sebastian. He reached out and sought her trembling hand that was tightly clutching her Slytherin robe. She immediately calmed at the warmness of his hands.
'How comforting,' she thought.
He squeezed her hand and whispered, "I'm sorry it had to be like that for you. But I promise... once we're through with this blasted Goblin Rebellion, we'll spend the rest of our lives positively uneventful together," he finished with a smile. The smile that she fell for. The smile that always made her smile back despite all the turmoil that has happened.

Indeed, 6 years after graduating from Hogwarts, she had been living her life in a positively uneventful manner like he assured her...
... Except that they were no longer together.
Lucy's lips curved into a sad smile. Being back in Hogsmeade always brought back memories of six to eight years ago—ones that included her former lover, especially.
