Chapter 17: Lacewing Flies

A mellow smile adorned Sebastian Sallow's face.

His thoughts deep on—despite the copious reasons persuading him otherwise—how fortunate he was. Had he not fought strongly against the reasons to give up, and to name a few: losing his parents at an early age, having his uncle's blood dirty his own hands, and missing out on years with his sister, he would not be relishing the small wins that came after.

He always knew he had a beautiful life awaiting him, a life worth enduring battle wounds and heart punctures.

And this life—tucked in his arms as she gorgeously slept—was named Lucy Blythe.

After hours of ogling her, admiring the freckles decorating her nose and the nearby areas, Lucy finally stirred, her lashes curtsying to him as her eyes fluttered open.

"Good morning. It's time to wake up," he hoarsely greeted, brushing the fringes probing her eyes.

Compared to Lucy's ample of sleep, Sebastian barely had a proper one. Instead of dreams, he had hours of daydreams—halted plans for their future he looked forward to seeing recommence. Exhaustion did not come upon him, however. She and the will to watch her sleep like he longed doing for years were the Invigorating draught he needed.

Her blue eyes finally revealed themselves, stared blankly at Sebastian momentarily before hiding themselves under her heavy lids again.

"Hey, it's noon time. Are you not hungry?"

Sebastian sighed as she shook her head in response. Although his sexual appetite was somehow sated, his stomach, apparently, was not. "All right, all right. You can stay here while I get us food."

"No," she lowly croaked, tightening her hug around him when he attempted to get up.

Sebastian chuckled at her antics, bringing his hand back on her hair, gently stroking her blond locks with a smug and flirty grin. "If I know better, you're trying to tempt me. You and me still on this bed, maybe we could... " he trailed off, scooting closer.

Her hand pressed on his chest, pushing him away, a glare marring her face. "Fine, you can go."

"Give me a kiss first," he required, defying the distance her hand was putting between them by bringing his face closer to hers.

He hummed in satisfaction when he felt her soft lips on his, chuckling against them before they separated. "That was easy. Eager to get rid of me, are you?"

"Yes," she murmured, her head sinking back on her plump pillow.

"Too bad, because..."

Just as she was closing her eyes, Sebastian's arms hooked behind her back and legs, carrying her off the bed with him.

"Hey! Put me down!" she screeched, thrashing on his arms as she begged, "Let me sleep more."

"Nope. To lunch we go," he declared, pecking her scrunched nose.

"A muggle shopping district?" Sebastian asked, scanning around the shops in the alleyway with none he found familiar.

Lucy nodded, holding her satchel by the front strap while her other hand was encased in Sebastian's warm hands. With the district busy with people either shopping or traversing towards the train station, Sebastian laced their fingers together to prevent losing Lucy in the waves of crowd—or so he said.
