Chapter 12: Whipped
Swish and flick.
The tip of Lucy's wand pointed directly towards a large, cardboard box containing the last of Anne and Ominis' belongings.
The couple were moving out today and had entrusted Lucy with the last box, taking only everything from their bedroom and leaving the rest for Lucy and Sebastian to use.
"Wingardium Leviosa," and up the box went, rattling subtly in the air as she remained still, analyzing how to keep it levitated whilst descending from the third to the ground floor.
Levitating items were never her strongest points—if not, her weakest.
This task reminded her of some Merlin Trials she had done as a fifth-year student, or the bells in the Music Classroom she helped restore—which, after running back and forth, up and down, countless of times due to dropping the bells midway, apparently had not granted her any reward. Not even a simple 'thank you.'
She reminded herself that if she were to live her life from the start, the bells would be ignored.
"All right, Let's do this," she directed the box towards the stairs, pushing it in the air before her, and just as she thought—her grip on the spell vanished as soon as the box collided with the wall, causing it to fall and tumble down the stairs before landing on the floor upside down.
Thankfully, the box was securely locked with a charm; Lucy need not go through the trouble of repacking the items. However, she was sure that some might have broken from the impact — nothing Reparo could not fix, nonetheless.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she tried again. The same thing happened as she moved it from the second to—finally, the ground floor.
The box rolled down, stopping just inches near Sebastian's boots.
Sebastian eyed the deformed box incredulously, pitying the journey it must have gone through in the hands of Lucy Blythe, who currently was sporting a nervous smile and apologetic eyes.
Wordlessly, Sebastian picked up the box and walked out to tuck it inside the car trunk, charmed with an Undetectable Extension.
Lucy watched him from the counter and through the glass door as he did so.
He was wearing his old Slytherin sweatshirt, the sleeves rolled up just above his elbows. It was surprising how the clothing still fit him after the years; although, it was no longer baggy-looking as it used to. Instead, the pullover hugged his figure like a slim-fit shirt.
Her focus went on his lips. Now done with securing all items in the trunk, she watched as he spoke to Anne and Ominis, and based on her lip-reading, the married couple seemed to be making him promise to take care of Lucy and not to upset her.
And his lips read, "Of course. I promise."
Yet after the talk, Sebastian behaved oppositely, glancing only briefly at her from the sides of his eyes as he walked past her. Her eyes followed him as he made his way upstairs to embellish his room.
Things became awkward—once again—between Sebastian and Lucy. The former decided to give her space after being avoided, and they had not spoken a word since then.
