Chapter 11: A Puzzling Relationship
There are different types of puzzles known to Wizardkind.
The most prominent were the Trials of Merlin, scattered all around the Scottish Highlands; and there were those found only inside Hogwarts such as—the Depulso Puzzle Rooms and the Arithmancy Doors.
The abovementioned were samples of mechanisms meant to tickle one's mind in finding an answer or a solution to complete a task.
There is, however, another definition to the word puzzle — a mystery, an enigma.
The perfect example to this was named 'Sebastian and Lucy's Puzzling Relationship' by none other than Anne Sallow.
It was bemusing how just hours ago, the two were either not on speaking terms or were at each other's throats. Yet now, they sat across her in the dining table—throwing sickeningly, passionate gazes and smiles at one another. They looked like two teenagers experiencing the first months of infatuation.
Sebastian was too engaged in filling Lucy's plate with Sausages and Roasted Potatoes before filling his own to notice the puzzled stare his twin had been giving them.
Seeing Sebastian like this was both foreign and familiar to Anne. While it was her first time witnessing first-hand how he cares for someone he adores romantically, it also seemed like she was seeing their father again.
The late Mr. Sallow was as deeply enamored towards their mother as Sebastian was too Lucy. Not to mention that he had grown looking a lot like him.
Anne felt a sudden throb at the thought— that maybe the reason why the two pairs gave so much love in their relationship—so much that it was overflowing—was because their time was limited. All the love they could give in the future was compressed to fit the little time they had with each other.
It was truly a shame.
"Try this," Lucy placed a Cornish Pasty on Sebastian's plate to return the gesture, "I made it."
Alarmed, Anne interjected, "But Lucy, that has—"
"Onions! Oh no," Lucy exclaimed at the realization, internally cursing herself for being careless, "I forgot—don't eat it!"
Too late.
Sebastian had already taken a bite despite knowing the ingredients to make a Cornish Pasty. He chewed on the pastry, maintaining a straight face to hide the disgust.
"I'm so sorry, Sebastian. I forgot you didn't like onions. It wasn't on purpose, I swear!" Lucy babbled, feeling worse at Sebastian's refusal to scold her.
Instead, Sebastian only grinned at her, enjoying the mixed look of guilt and concern on her face.
Ominis chuckled, "You should have taken that with whipped cream, Sebastian. It'll taste better."
Lucy decided to ignore the comment, focusing on her food. Sebastian, however, threw a glare at the blond, "Ominis, for the record, I am not fu—"
"Seb?" Lucy interrupted and gave a pointed look towards Eli who was being fed by her father.
"Yes, ma'am," he backed down.
Ominis sniggered.
"What did I say?" he whispered to Anne, albeit loud enough for the two to hear and be embarrassed about.
