Euphoria: season 1

Alex: the way I am

We see a woman in the hospital room who's screaming for her life as Gregory while a scruffier beard holds this woman's hand, and after a brief moment the doctor who stands in front of the woman's legs... holds a baby as it crys.

DOCTOR: It's a boy.

The two adults are happy to see this baby as the Doctor hands the baby to the woman as the young Gregory looks at the new born baby with unbelievable joy. While the woman has some joy she feels some sadness.

ALEX(V.O): I was born two days after 9/11. I think those small moments of infancy were the best of my life. Because I didn't have to feel anything else, just the feeling of being born for the first time.

A day later we see the young baby Alex sits in a cradle, another baby is laid in the cradle. The babys move their heads to look at each other and for a slight moment the two moment the babys have a hint of joy in their eyes.

Years later, we see a toddler Alex who plays on the swings with other kids. After Alex gets off the swings and lets another kid on the swings Alex looks over at the slide and sees that one of the kids isn't doing anything and just sits down and looks a bit out of it. Alex diced to walk over to the kid. 

The kid looks up and sees that Alex is standing above her and is entranced by the boy's smile. Alex looks down at the girl and is amazed how pretty she was and had to think of the right words to say to her.

YOUNG ALEX: Hi, I'm Alex.

The girl also has to think of the right words to say so she doesn't say the wrong thing or sound weird.

YOUNG RUE: Hi... I'm Rue.

YOUNG ALEX: Do you wanna play with me?

Rue thought she still had her drugged out face but Alex could see a smile form on her face which made him smile.

YOUNG RUE: Sure.

ALEX(V.O): The first time I met Rue, I knew she was the most beautiful girl I had even seen. And that was a fact.

Alex held out his hand and Rue took the hand and was brought up to her feet and was joined Alex at one of the swings and as Alex pushed Rue on the swings and sent her in the air with each push Rue could feel more and more happy.

RUE(V.O): At this point, I didn't want anything else then to have Alex at my side, to make me feel normal. I know that sounds selfish of me, to want Alex to myself so I can feel better about myself... but it's true.

Years later Alex in his room peeks through the door and sees his parents arguing about something. But whatever it was, his mother left as she slammed the door behind her.

As the years go by we see flashes from Alex's past. Moments with his father that were amazing, Holding Alex on his shoulder, playing catch with him, learning paint, and being at a pool birthday party with young Rue and young Lexi.

Alex from another side of the pool looks across from the pool and looks at Rue who's drinking a cup of punch as other kids play and splash in the pool. Alex looks at Rue and feels a lot of butterflies in his stomach. 

ALEX(V.O): Truth be told. I liked Rue from the start, but it wasn't full blown love more like an unsure love, the kind of love that you have for someone that you've been with your whole life and you just want to have time to figure it out.

Studently, Alex is pushed by another boy into the pool and is both shocked and amazed. Other kids look on and smile as they jump in with clothes on, even Rue jumps in and laughs as Alex and her come out of the pool.

Once again, we flash through the years as we see Alex grow up with Rue, we see them play in the park as they laugh, we see them at parties with other kids, we see them have fun with their parents.

We cut to their teenage years, we see Alex hang out with Lexi, Rue, and Gia at a park, they walk through the park and talk as they do so. 

ALEX(V.O): At 15, I had almost forgotten about my feelings for Rue. I only saw her as my best friend. 

We cut to a class that Alex and Rue have together, the two sit next to each other and unbenounced to Alex Rue looks at him like she was a smitten 6 year old. 

RUE(V.O): I think it's safe for me to say when I was in love with Alex since we first met. And I wanted to tell him how I felt so much, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship if didn't feel the same and if he didn't feel the same then I couldn't handle the rejection.

We cut for the final time to the night at the dance, Alex and Rue kiss as they dance outside. 

RUE(V.O): But in that moment, that one night...

ALEX(V.O): That one amazing night.

ALEX/RUE(V.O): Was the night that we both wanted for a long, long, time.

After their night of passion the two cuddle next to each other with smiles on their faces, but after a while Rue wakes up and takes out some powdered drugs and lines it up, considers what she's about to do... Rue then snorts the line... And feels fucking amazing.
