Chapter twenty-one

As three days passed, Avika couldn't help but notice a change in Kiaan's behaviour, particularly in their physical interactions. Despite her immediate apology for her unintentional rudeness, she sensed a shift in his demeanour. At first, she brushed it aside, not thinking too much about it but now his behaviour had started to irk her.

His touch became fleeting, his hand withdrawing as if scalded by the slightest contact with her skin. Often, she caught him lost in thought, a hint of longing in his gaze as it lingered on her. His reluctance to initiate hugs, a gesture she cherished, left her feeling unsettled. Hadn't she apologized? Hadn't she acknowledged her mistake? Frustrated, she resolved to address the issue head-on. She needed his warmth, his affection, his embrace, and she refused to let her misstep rob her of it. With two bakery names in mind, Avika was gearing up for a conversation with her husband, testing the waters to see his reaction. If her initial plan didn't pan out well, she had a backup idea ready to go.

Fortunately, they managed to find a decent apartment, much to Avika's relief. What's more, it was conveniently located just twenty minutes away from their current home, adding to her excitement. Ishita still needed to inspect the apartment in person before they could finalize everything. Avika had already sent her mother the pictures of the apartment, and she had approved of them. However, Avika insisted that Ishita see the place firsthand before making any decisions.

"Bhabhi, aap ne kuch banaya hai?" Yug's sheepish voice reached Avika's ears, signalling his interest in the bakery products. It was a weekday, yet Yug was unexpectedly home, citing something about heading directly to the court. Given the time, Avika pondered whether he would actually go to work today or not.

(Bhabhi, have you made anything?)

"Abhi toh nahi. Kya khaana hai tumhe? Main bana dungi." Avika offered, noticing Yug's excitement. However, just as he was about to respond, his phone rang, prompting him to grumble under his breath before answering the call. As Yug moved away to talk on the phone, Avika shifted her focus to packing Kiaan's lunch.

(Not yet. What would you like to eat? I'll prepare it for you)

After ten minutes, Yug returned and informed her that he was leaving, but not without requesting a few brownies if she could make them. Avika smiled and agreed, causing Yug to squeal with joy and hug her tightly before rushing out of the house. She couldn't help but laugh at his enthusiastic behaviour.

A few minutes later, Avika was on her way to her husband's office after informing Parul about it. The latter had chuckled and said, "Last time I had to come up with excuses to send you here, and now look at you." Avika blushed at her words, realizing how true they were. Initially, she had been reluctant when Parul suggested taking lunch to Kiaan's office, but now she was more than willing to do so.

Some time later, she was standing in front of his cabin, psyching herself up to confront him. Pushing the door open without knocking, she caught him off guard as he looked up. The surprise in his eyes was unmistakable, his mouth hanging slightly open as if he was about to speak, but he halted mid-sentence, realizing it wasn't just another employee at the door. Oh, and did she forget to mention she had finally figured out what his job was, or rather, the company he ran.

"Aap—yaha—" he stammered, struggling to find his words, and she couldn't help but chuckle. "Haa, main yaha. Kyu koi problem hai?" she raised her eyebrows inquiringly. Kiaan hastily shook his head, and she couldn't help but find him utterly endearing in that moment.

(You're here—) (Yes, I'm here. Is there a problem?)

Avika walked up to him and showed him the bag, "Mind having lunch?"
