Before I could even decipher what had happened, I realized I woke up in a dark cave. The only light source was the crackling flames that danced wildly. I scanned the area only to see a young man around my age cooking fish. He looked strong and handsome with hair that touched his shoulders. "So you're finally awake?" He said glancing at me from the corner of his eye. "Who are you? Where is Lord Sesshomaru?" He stood up and walked over to where I had been sleeping. "Here. Eat. The sleeping potion I used on you is strong. If your stomach is empty it will start to hurt." I grabbed the stick he handed me and took a bite without thinking. I was so hungry that I forgot about the bones in the fish. "Ow!"
A bone stabbed me in the mouth and I dropped the fish accidentally. "Do you not know how to eat fish?" The young man asked. "I don't. Someone always had to help me clean it." Without hesitation he grabbed another fish and taught me how to clean the bone. "See? It's not so hard. Just have to know where the placement of the bones are." I inched away and he smirked. "My job was to kidnap you not harm you. I would never lay a hand on women or children. You are safe with me but once Naraku shows up it's out of my hands." I was fearful of my life at this point. I didn't want to die. I just wanted to be with Lord Sesshomaru.
I got on my hands and knees begging profusely. He has a soft spot for women and children right? "Please! I know maybe Naraku has probably paid you handsomely or has given you something you desired but I really don't want to die. Please let me go! I want to see Lord Sesshomaru. I don't want to die."
His face went solemn. I had no idea how to interpret such an expression. "There is nothing I can do. Naraku is my master. If I betray him then he will surely kill me. It's my life or yours." My shoulders slumped. "I understand..." The cave went silent but neither one of us moved an inch. "If you can't let me go then can you give Lord Sesshomaru a letter for me?" The man scrunched up his eyebrows, skeptical of what the letter could possibly contain. "What is the purpose of this letter? If you try to escape it will only get worse for you. I do not wish for you to suffer by my hands. I'm merely a puppet to Naraku. He has complete control of my body. If he so wishes he could use me to kill you."
I fought back the frog in my throat but without me wanting to my voice cracked and tears started to fall. "N-no it will be a goodbye letter. I want to confess my feelings to Lord Sesshomaru in case...in case I don't make it. I want him to know how he made me feel, and how much I treasured our time together. If you want, once I'm finished, you can read it. I'm not ashamed of how I feel." His eyes widened. "A love letter. But you are a human. How can you love a beast in human form?" I smiled and stood up patting my clothes. "I don't know I just do. I don't care what he is. It's who he is that matters to me. Lord Sesshomaru has been my devoted protecter since I first came to this era. He has taken very good care of me and hasn't asked for anything in return. He is way more to me than just some form he takes."
The man smiled warmly. "I see...a heart as pure as a child. Your words are very sweet. I would be honored to deliver that letter for you." He paused for a moment and then spoke again. "My name is Shuya. I'm a fox spirit. I never thought I would ever meet a human like you." My eyes fluttered as I tried to make sense of what he was saying to me. "A fox spirit!? Really!? Oh my god that is amazing!!!! Show me!!!! Please!?" He laughed uncontrollably. "Very well. I'll show you. Just promise you won't laugh!" I nodded fully anticipating a ferocious wild fox only to see something beyond my wildest dreams.

Shuya was a nine-tailed fox. I thought they were merely a myth due to them being so rare but never would I have thought I would meet one. "Shuya...you're so cute!" He was taken aback as I threw my arms around him and nuzzled my face into his neck. "You're just the cutest little fox I've ever seen and you're so soft and cuddly! How can you be this adorable!?" Shuya turned back into his human form and covered his face with his hands. His ears were red. "You can't...you can't just go around calling men cute you know. They'll take it the wrong way....do you really think that form is adorable?" I responded with no hesitation . "Yes!!!!"
Shuya gazed at me for a long time then sighed heavily. I was concerned. "Shuya what's wrong? Did I act inappropriately? Or have I offended you in some way?" Shuya patted my head. "No matter what happens can you do something for me?" I nodded yes and he combed my hair behind my ear. "No, you have done no wrong." Shuya walked back to the fire and sat before it. The flames danced reflecting in his eyes. "I'm a fool. I am a great fox spirit and here I am feeling this emotion." I wanted to speak with him more to ease my anxiety but the weight of my situation hit me like a truck. I started to panic. I started to explore the many ways Naraku could kill me, what he would do to me, or if I could ever see Lord Sesshomaru one last time. So I wrote the letter with a heavy heart.
Just as I signed my name at the bottom a strong gust of wind thrusted me into the air. I screamed trying to hold onto something but Shuya caught me. "Kagura..." He said full of anger. The chuckle of a woman appeared from the dirt fog. I think I might have seen her before she was always watching from a distance whenever Naraku was around. If she is here that means Naraku has to be close by right? "Hand over the human girl."
I broke out in a cold sweat, fearful for my life but Shuya held onto me tightly bringing me mild comfort even if it was just a false sense of security. "Shuya be a good little fox spirit. Once the girl finds out Lord Sesshomaru is no more her will to live will die with him." My heart sank.
