Chapter #13 Shuya The Great Deceiver (PT.2)

Second Person POV

"No...No! It's not true! Your lying! If he was dead Naraku would be here to kill me not you!" You cried out denying what you had just heard. "Foolish girl. You don't know anything. Shuya, since you haven't handed her over I shall take this as an act of betrayal." Shuya set you on the ground and aimed his strange curved sword at Kagura. "The true betrayer is you Kagura. What is your purpose for coming here because I am certain it was not an order from Naraku. Now I know why he said to be weary of you."

Kagura scowled swinging her fan. "Out of my way fox!" You were confused as to why Shuya sliced at the air until you saw that Kagura's wind can cut someone. "Mayu, get out of here. Now!" You got on your feet as they continued to fight. "B-but what about you!?" Shuya yelled, blocking Kagura's attacks. "Even though I do not wish for it to be so I am your enemy against my will! Use this to escape! Run and don't look back! I do not believe Kagura! Find the man you love! Go to him! Quickly!" His words gave you courage...no they gave you hope.

Your POV

I ran towards the large cloud of smoke knowing that was the direction where the fight was taking place. Sesshomaru's image was in my mind so it didn't matter how tired or out of breath I was. My heart soared at the thought of being in his arms but what I saw before me left me speechless. It was an enormous white dog demon ripping Naraku's disgusting body to shreds. "Psssst! Over here!"

Just a little ways away Inuyasha had been hiding in the bushes. I went over to him and hid as well knowing it was best to stick by his side until I found Sesshomaru. "Uh Inuyasha...why are you hiding in the—whaaaaaaaat happened to your ears?— and your hair— it's black--!!!" He glared at me. "Not another word! I wanted in on the action but I always turn human on the night of a full moon. I'm just waiting for the sun to come up so I can jump in. I can't let Sesshomaru have all the fun." I was dumbfounded. "Sesshomaru! Where is he!?" Inuyasha pointed to the scary looking dog demon and my eyes widened. "THAT'S SESSHOMARU!?!?!?"

I was totally fangirling while Inuyasha stared at me in disbelief. "Crazy must run in the family if you're in love with that guy." I grabbed his cheek. "Watch it Inuyasha the sun ain't up yet. That means I can kick your ass if i really wanted to." He frowned holding his cheek but then his expression became serious. "Tch. Yeah right...Anyways you should stay away from Sesshomaru for a while. In that form he might not recognize you, and I'll never hear the end of it from Kagome if something bad happens to you." I grew very concerned. What did he mean by that? How could Sesshomaru not recognize me? What did this form of Sesshomaru meant for us?

Wait a minute...the wind...something is wrong..."Inuyasha get down!" Kagura appeared ridding on a feather and swinging her fan quickly in our direction. "Hey how the hell did you feel her coming!?!?" I wasn't sure what to say to him but I knew we had to run. "Come on! We need to run! I can see the sun in the horizon. You should change back soon right? We just have to stay alive till then." Inuyasha nodded and grabbed my hand as we ran away from Kagura. "Come back here! Stop running! You're screwing up everything!" A ferocious gust of wind tossed us into the crossfire of Sesshomaru and Naraku but Inuyasha never let go of my hand. "I know you're in pain but we have to get away from here. Get up Mayu!"

My body was sore and my head throbbed. I couldn't stop my tears as I felt how weak my body truly was. How did I end up in a situation like this? I'm not cut out for this kind of life..."Hey! Snap out of it! Stop feeling sorry for yourself! Look!" Inuyasha pointed at Sesshomaru who fought fearlessly. "That guy is scared too!" The dog demon form of Sesshomaru locked eyes with me. I anger that raged like consuming fire but behind that I saw genuine fear. But why? I always thought that he was fearless. How could he be scared? Was Naraku really such a dangerous demon? "Those are the eyes of a man trying to protect the people he cares about! Are you really going to just give up like this!? If you really want to be with Sesshomaru then get your ass up and fight back!" Even though I felt frustrated by Inuyasha's words he was right. I want to be with Lord Sesshomaru no matter what. I can't give up. Not like this. Not ever.

I ignored the excruciating pain in my body and forced myself to get up. "I've got you now human!" Kagura flew down low to the ground and picked me up bringing us both up high in the sky. "Shit! Mayuuuu!!!" I felt a warmth in my heart that caused my heart to relax. Then I heard the voice of a woman whisper to me. "You want to be with the man you love don't you? Fight. Don't give up. You're not a coward. You're stronger than you think." This voice came from within. Was the jewel speaking to me? "Kagura!" I held up my hand knowing exactly what I had to do next. "What!?—That light!!!—Get it away from meeee!" Kagura covered her eyes in fear and we dropped down from the sky. It seems that the light that came from my hand burned her face. She screamed out in pain but managed to save herself and fly away. I watched the ground get closer and closer until it turned furry white.

It was Sesshomaru. Even though he was fighting Naraku he still managed to save me from falling to my death. "Finally! I've got you now Naraku!" Day break made the sky beautiful shades of orange and purple with blue finally taking the spotlight. "Inuyasha!" I yelled cheerfully when I witnessed him back to normal. He winked at me and ran ahead chasing after Naraku. "Mayumi I see your slowly starting to awaken. Maybe the next time we meet you can finally unleash that power you have stored up so I can devour you whole." My body trembled at Naraku's words but I knew that he was right. A battle between me and him was inevitable. I have to get stronger so that I can protect Sesshomaru too. "Get back here Naraku! Fight me!" Inuyasha swung his sword in the air at Naraku who managed to escape us.

Everything went quiet until Sesshomaru started to growl at his brother. Inuyasha took a step back and put his sword away. "Relax I was just trying to help." Sesshomaru finally spoke. "I don't need your help. How dare you interfere!" Inuyasha scoffed. "Really? If it wasn't for me your girlfriend wouldn't have got the courage to fight back! Stop taking all the weight on your shoulders! If you keep acting like a lone hero and not train her to fight back she can get killed! Then you'll have no one to blame but yourself!" Sesshomaru growled and ran off. He took us far away from what was once a battlefield and brought us to a hot spring. He transformed back and collapsed to the ground. I rushed to his side to see if he was alright but my heart instantly broke. "Lord Sesshomaru...these wounds are terrible..." I refused to cry and did my best to help him but he hissed at me with scary red eyes. "Leave me!"

I was shocked for a moment, but I guess today was the day where he was going to learn how stubborn I truly was. "NO! I'm not leaving you here! If you push me away I'll only hold onto you tighter! So don't even try it!" He clicked his tongue and averted his gaze away from me with a blank stare. I got closer once more and this time he didn't fight me. I pondered on what I should do but then I thought about the power I had. Should I really test it out?

I tried healing myself. That same white light emitted from my hand and healed the cut I had on my arm from running away earlier. Sesshomaru's eyes widen. "—How did you learn that?" I smiled feeling happy that he was finally talking to me again. "Inuyasha actually helped me—huh!?" Sesshomaru grew angry and looked away again with a grumpy expression on his face. He looked so cute but I knew better than to actually tell him that. "Don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say to you. Yes Inuyasha helped me but it was when he made me realize that the only way to stay by your side was to fight back—it was like a fire ignited within me. Because there is nothing more that I could ever want then to be by your side. You are the reason why I was able to fight off my fear Lord Sesshomaru...so please...don't be angry with me."

I placed my hand on his cheek feeling the warmth shared between us. His eyes stared into mine and I felt a long awaited kiss coming but he looked away. I felt a bit disappointed but I realized it wasn't because he didn't want to kiss me. "You must be Lord Sesshomaru. I got a special delivery for you." That voice..."Shuya!? You're alive!" I was happy to see him but he wore a grim expression as he threw the letter I wrote to Sesshomaru. They both shared a look I was afraid of. "Mayumi stepped aside. Naraku has ordered me to kill Sesshomaru." My body went cold. I had yet to heal Sesshomaru and he was already in bad shape. If he fights Shuya...no I can't let him. "No, I won't step aside! I won't let you harm him!" I stood in the way fully prepared to protect the man I love, but my heart ached thinking that this will only complicate things further.
