Chapter#16 Sesshomaru's Heart (PT.2)

You POV

Why do I keep messing things up? How could I let Shuya trick me like that? I thought he could be trusted, and Sesshomaru...Why did things turn out this way?

"Mayumi." A voice called out to me somewhere in all the light that surrounded me. I searched and saw the figure of a woman. She approached me slowly, gently hugging me. "Don't cry. Everything will be alright." My dad was like this with me. He always made it seem like I could conquer the world if I wanted to. Little did I know all he did was carry my pain on his shoulders.

I grew curious as I forced those memories back into the hidden corners of my mind. "Who are you?" Her embrace grew tighter but it still felt so gentle. The woman giggled. "I'm the jewel locked away in your heart. You see, since the moment you were born I have been with you."

I felt warmth spread in my heart but her words baffled me. "I can't understand. If you were here the whole time why are you appearing now? Was it you who pushed me into the well? You're the reason I'm here right?" She had no face but I could feel her smile. "Yes, I did push you in. You have always been a very curious yet stubborn child. Once you've made up your mind no one can change it. In that moment you were afraid. I did not want your fear to get in the way."

I grew hesitant. "You didn't want to let my fear of getting in the way of what?" The goddess chuckled. "If you didn't go into the well you would've never experienced this world and you never would've met Sesshomaru. You also would've never known that I've been with you. However I can no longer stay with you. In your world I was dormant but now that I am back in this time my powers have been restored but my body no longer exists. If I continue to allow my soul to live in your body like this I could harm you greatly. That's why I must go."

The light started to dim. "Go? Go where? You mean like die!?" The goddess grew quiet but then she spoke once more. This time seeming sad. "Yes I'm leaving for good. But I will leave my power and immortality with you." I held onto her. "Wait! You can't leave! I can't do this by myself! I need your help! What am I supposed to do!? Please!"

She stroked my head lovingly like my mom use to before my dad died. "Don't doubt yourself anymore Mayumi. Don't let your past mistakes keep you from trying to be happy. I must go but you're not alone...look." I opened my eyes and heard a familiar voice call out to me desperately. "Mayumi!" I searched and met eyes with Sesshomaru.

I wanted to run to his side and apologize but my emotions were all over the place. Sadly I did not have the mysterious goddess's help anymore so the powers she left me went crazy. "D-don't come any closer! Go away!" He reached out for me touching the light, burning his skin in the process. I thought this would get him to back away but he pushed through. "Stop! I'll just end up hurting you!"

The light grew stronger but Sesshomaru fought through the light to reach me. He extended his hand out to me and called my name again. He was going through so much pain to get to me. I realized that pushing him away was silly. If he truly wants to reach out to me like I have, then why should I stop it?

I was able to calm the burning rays of light and leaned into Sesshomaru's embrace. "You came back." Sesshomaru held me like I was a precious treasure. "Forgive me..I let the anger get the better of me and-" I peered into his face. "There is no need to apologize or say anything. I was fooled by Shuya thinking he was a friend but I was wrong. "

Sesshomaru's POV

Peace spread throughout my body once she returned my embrace. I'll never doubt her again. I was just being foolish. I was not able to control my emotions. "Mayumi..." Her giggle, caused my cheeks to grow warm. Her smile was sweeter than honey. I desired to taste her lips once more. In my desperation I did not wait to place my lips on hers. Mayumi wrapped her arms around my neck, deepening the kiss. Her hand slid into my clothes but I stopped her. "We have unwanted company—I thought I told you to seal your lips useless monk.
