Nothing Like a Good Becah Day

I aroused to Connor's voice whispering, "It's time to get up Alyssa, everyone's already awake and I think it's time for the beach."

Today we would start at the beach, go shopping in the afternoon, and go together to eat.

"Ok I'm getting up now," I whispered back.

I was super excited because it was our first complete day at the beach. I got out of bed, put on my hot pink triangle bikini, and tied my hair back in a low ponytail. I also washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put on a little bit of waterproof mascara. It was 8 A.M. but we needed every minute we could get because of our time-consuming schedule. Everyone else was already ready by the time I came out of the bathroom.

Lydia and I planned on our first morning of surfing today. Connor and Jackson were going for a long run. Drew and Lucas would hang out at the beach and watch us just in case of anything. I despised that everyone treated Lydia and I like kids still. It's just hard because the boys are taller and look so old now that the moms think they're stronger than us and can handle more. We opened the door, walked out onto the beach, and said goodbye to Jackson and Connor, watching them jog away into the midst. They could run forever. It's like they never get tired, I'll never understand it. Lydia and I grabbed the surfboards we rented and took off into the water. Drew and Lucas were close behind.

"Please be careful girls," Drew said.
Lydia laughed, "Okay Dad."

He looked back at us with a serious face. We started stepping into the water.

The water reached our waist so we hopped on the boards and paddled out far, dodging the waves coming at us. Once we paddled past the waves, we sat with our legs dangling in the water, waiting for one to emerge. The water was a glassy, pale blue color. I just gazed at it with the sun shining above us. We had an agreement, that I would take the first wave so I had to be prepared. I was pretty nervous since it had been a whole year. I saw one coming so I turned around and started paddling towards shore. The wave came in behind me quickly. I stood up once it reached my board. The adrenaline rush was unbelievable. The water and I were moving so fast. I stayed standing on the board, shaking a little. Once I got close to shore, I just let myself tumble into the water. I was so glad that I successfully rode my first wave of the trip. I watched Lydia come in and you could just tell she was really happy. We both stood in the water, smiling at each other.

We kept riding waves, having wipeouts here and there when we saw Connor and Jackson running towards us. We rode one more wave back to shore and ran towards them. When we got to them I popped up into Connor's arms. He was sweaty but it was okay because I was soaking wet. He held me as we walked back to Drew and Lucas.

"I was going through boyfriend withdrawal," I laughed.
"I'm sure you were," he smiled.

Connor and I sat down. I was lying against his chest, sitting in between his legs. Lydia was doing the same with Jackson. We made a circle with Drew and Lucas to talk about our plans. It was almost lunch so it was a good time to go inside and get ready for shopping. The boys have never wanted to shop but we make them every year. Lydia and I always purchase so much but the boys just follow us around. I accumulate money just for this shopping trip.

We got back to the house to see all of the Moms standing around the kitchen counter conversing. We reached upstairs and changed. I put on a green T-shirt and jean shorts. Lydia put on a purple tank top and athletic shorts. We went into the bathroom and got ready. She blow-dried my hair and styled it. After that, I did my makeup while she did her hair, and then I did her makeup. It's always been like this. I've done makeup, she's done hair. We slipped our flip-flops on and met the boys downstairs. I saw a bunch of seltzers and bottles of Malibu, Tito's, and Crown Royal that I understood we would be taking some of later. The moms went crazy at the liquor store today I guess.
