Everyone who knew Arthur and Karlee knew they were in love - well, everyone except Arthur and Karlee themselves or so everyone thought.

Karlee had guarded her secrets the same way she guarded her friendship with Arthur. He was her best friend. She had known him since the day she was born, both their mothers being friends and her and Arthur being born two hours apart and side by side from then. Karlee still remembers the story her mom told her of how Arthur stopped crying the minute she was placed in the bassinet beside his in the nursery. How his barely open baby eyes turned towards her and as if the minute he saw her he knew she was going to be his best friend for the rest of his.

And they did become best of friends, but along the way the two of them had found something bigger than friendship, something pure, and Karlee guarded it with her life, protected at every cost, never letting the rumours of their shared life in the spotlight taint it and when they finally shared their story in little glimpses, she knew no matter what Arthur would always be her rentrer à la maison. (coming home)

"Miss Saints, are you ready to leave?"

Karlee looked up from behind her computer at her assistant who had several folders, and an iPad stuffed in her hands along with Karlee's briefcase and her outfit for the evening packed away under a dry-cleaning bag. The office around her was a testament to the years of hard work she and Marcy had put into Saints & Co. It felt surreal sometimes—how far they had come. She had always been comfortable taking a backseat to her sister's dominance in their world, but things had shifted in the past year.

Karlee sighed, shaking her head in amusement. "Eden, how many times have I mentioned its Leclerc now," Karlee said as adjusted the cuff of her blazer as she stood up from her desk. Her tone was light, not annoyed. She knew it wasn't easy for people to adjust.

"Sorry," Eden mumbled, looking sheepish. "I keep forgetting."

"That's alright," Karlee reassured her with a small chuckle. "It's only been a week since I returned to work." And in that week, she had been thrown headfirst into the chaos of balancing Saints & Co.
