Arthur stood before the mirror, adjusting his tie with practiced precision. Tonight was the gala dinner, for one of the many events Karlee had been invited to and she had made sure his suit was ready for him. As he smoothed down the lapels of his suit jacket, his mind wandered back to the time he discovered how far he was willing to go for the love of his life.

Arthur had a problem when it came to Karlee – and that was not being able to say 'no'. This put him in some very interesting positions in the past, but whatever happened, it just seemed that Arthur could never say no when she asked him for anything. It had always been that way, he supposed. Ever since they were babies. He was never able to deny her whenever she looked into his eyes with her baby blue doe eyes.

When Karlee called him to ask if he wanted to come to a party with her? He was out the door before Karlee told him the location. When Karlee suddenly had the urge to watch Barbie movies from her childhood? He brought the popcorn and even sang along to some of the songs he knew the words to.

She was there for every one of his races all through his life. And he made it his point to support her in her several different avenues until she found designing, which became his favourite thing to watch.

So, when the time came for both of them to move out of their parents' homes, it came as no surprise to anyone that Karlee and Arthur decided to move in together. Arthur wanted to spend his free time, when he wasn't racing, with Karlee as much as possible, and Karlee was just happy to be with her best friend. Though he'd always been protective over Karlee, and it was nothing new, Arthur could never deal with Karlee sating other guys. He clearly remember the last time they had an argument over her going on a date with some guy...

As Karlee stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down her dress. Arthur couldn't help but interrupt her.

"Are you sure you want to go on a date with this guy?" Arthur's tone was laced with concern as he stood in her doorway, his arms crossed over his chest. He didn't trust the guy she was about to go out with, and he wasn't hiding it.

Karlee let out an exasperated groan, her frustration evident in the way she rolled her eyes. "For the millionth time, Arthur, I'm sure." She adjusted her hair one last time, smoothing down the strands that framed her face, before grabbing her handbag from the dresser.

"Why are you so stressed over this?" she asked, turning to face him with a raised eyebrow.

Arthur sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "I just don't have a good feeling about him, Keks. Something doesn't sit right with me."
