A/N: I know, I know. To be honest, I thought I abandoned this too, but no. I just didn't know how to continue this and make it good. I wasn't in a good place mentally either. But I'm back, and I want to finish at least a few more chapters. Let's get to it.

Jaune was speeding through the air along with his fellow test takers, observing how each of them landed; some were flashy uses of semblances or incredible displays of acrobatics, while others just bulldozed into a tree with no regard for decor. Jaune considered himself in the former group.

So, with practiced ease, he waited until he started falling into the tree line to make his move. As he came upon a tree in his path, he brought his legs up in front of him and landed on its truck with enough force to almost uproot it. Now his initial plan was to flip back into a somersault and land on the ground like a superhero. But as soon as he touched the tree, he sensed something flying towards him. He quickly weaved his head to the side to dodge, only to have the cloak he was wearing get caught on whatever was about to hit him.

"What the?" Slip* "Oh Shi-" Because of his surprise, he didn't have time to solidify his grip on the tree with his aura, so he slipped and was now dangling from his cloak, which was caught on... a spear?

Why was the spear there? He didn't know. Who threw it? Also, no idea. He was also hanging at an awkward angle, so he couldn't really move his arms; he was stuck. He also heard a faint "I'm sorry!" in the distance.

Jaune tried to wriggle his way out for a few moments, but to no avail, and just decided to make peace with the situation and just hang there while he waited for the owner of the spear to come and retrieve both it and him. He was honestly done with today, and it was only 10 am.

"(sigh)... Well, this isn't the worst situation I've ever been in... Good Dagda, why did I come here?"

About 7 minutes passed before Jaune sensed someone approaching him, or a few people approaching him based on his readings. He then saw the Schnee girl from earlier coming through the foliage below. She seemed to be struggling a bit, then she stopped once she heard him chuckle. She looked up and saw him hanging there.

"Sup." He replied with a smirk.

She gazed at him for a little longer in general confusion and then recognition, before finally settling on mild annoyance. She made her way back through the bushes without saying a word. Though Jaune wasn't expecting her help, that was just cold, their previous interaction notwithstanding.

"Well, screw you too then; it's not my fault Spartan Girl didn't want you to clean her carpets."

"Hello again, Jaune!"

"Speak of Donn."Jaune thought to himself before turning to see Pyrrha standing below him, bearing a pleased look on her face. He sensed her approaching from a different direction than the Ice Queen and made the assumption that she was the one who threw the spear.

"Hey Pyrrha, you got some incredible aim." Jaune said as he smiled back at her.

Later

Jaune and his new partner were making their way through the forest. Though they encountered some light skirmishes consisting of a few beowolves and Ursa minors, everything was pretty peaceful, which gave the new duo ample time to talk and get to know each other. Pyrrha came to see how relaxed and assured Jaune was when approaching life; he seemed so much deeper than he appeared. She also saw a glimpse of how good a marksman her partner was too, as he shot down enemies from afar with his revolver while she got up close with Miló and Akoúo̱. She found him quite impressive over all, and she found herself yearning for him more and more little by little.
