We Met In Eterna Forest (Gaiashipping)

A fluffy Gaiashipping oneshot where Cheryl gets lot in Eterna Forest, and the adventurous Gardenia comes to save her. Cheryl immediately falls head over heels for her, but Gardenia is as dense as whatever the hell osminium (apparently the densest thing on Earth) is.

Headcanons for this chapter:

- Cheryl works for the Pokémon Center and delivers supplies back and forth between Floaroma Town and Eterna City, but easily gets lost
- When Gardenia doesn't get a lot of challengers at her gym, she adventures around Eterna Forest with James' Cacnea

Cheryl's POV:

Everything started one day when Nurse Joy assigned me to un an errand for her by sending some potions from Floaroma Town to Eterna City. I was up for the task, so with boxes in my hands, I set off with my Chansey.

We found the first part of the journey very easy, but it got a lot harder once we arrived in Eterna Forest, my worst nightmare. The forest is so big and misty it's hard to find where I'm going, and I always get lost.

In the past, younger trainers have managed to help guide me through, and in return, I acted as a service for double battles with my Chansey. But since it's fall now and not many trainers adventure out here at this time of year, I can't ever remember the directions.

After a while of waiting hopelessly for someone to help me as if I was a damsel in distress, waiting for someone to save me, I sighed and me and Chansey and I ventured in by ourselves.

At first, it seemed easy since I had been through it so many times, but when I got deeper in, it was harder to know which direction I was going in.

Trainers were battling me left and right, and the pokémon deeper in were a lot more vicious and strong. It all started with cute little Wurmple and Buneary playing happily together, but as you go deeper in, there were Misdreavus singing ominous tunes and Murkrow staring at you with their menacing eyes.

Very quickly, we found a den full of Cascoon. At first, I sighed with relief because I thought they wouldn't be able to attack me, but then a bright blue glow washed over them, and they evolved into Dustox!

Me and Chansey started running away, and as we were screaming, they started to chase us. I knew I couldn't run forever, though, so I came to a hault.

"Chansey, we will have to battle!" I said.

"Chansey?" Chansey responded, as it wasn't used to me commanding that before.

In the past, I've had trainers by my side whose pokémon were a lot stronger than mine... but I didn't have that now, and Chansey barely knows any fighting moves. What was I to do?

"Hey, leave her alone!" A voice shouted.

I looked up to see that in the oak tree beside me stood a shadowy figure with their Cacnea by their side. They spotted a vine and then swung down to us with Cacnea following behind them.

It was revealed that my saviour was none other than the Eterna City gym leader, Gardenia!

"Are you okay?" She asked, her short brown hair blowing in the sudden breeze.

I was breathless by how beautiful she was at that moment that I couldn't get any words out, but with a blush on my face, I nodded.

She then turned back to the group of Dustox surrounding us. Her and the Cacnea caught each other's gaze and nodded before jumping into action, as if they could read each other's minds.

"Cacnea, use Sandstorm!" Gardenia commanded.

The Cactus Pokémon did as it was told and sent sand swirl around the area we were in. It made most of the Dustox faint, but there was one pokémon left standing.

"Use Drain Punch, Cacnea!" She called.

Cacnea punched the remaining pokémon, making it faint. Gardenia wiped off some sweat beads from her head and then turned back to me.

"So what is your name?" She asked.

"I'm C-cheryl!" I stuttered, my blushing more intensified now.

"That's a lovely name!" She commented with a smile.

We then started walking together since she is the gym leader and will obviously know where we need to go.

"Are you heading to Eterna City?" She asked.

"Yes I am, I'm delivering some potions to the Pokémon Center and I-" I explained, but then realised there was nothing in my hands.

I turned around to see that Chansey was running after me with all of the boxes in her small hands, panting as she did.

"Haha, I'm pretty forgetful too!" Gardenia chuckled.

When my partner pokémon handed me back the boxes, I started laughing too. We then continued chatting until we arrived at Eterna City, and she dropped me off by the Pokémon Center.

"Well, I had a lovely time saving you, but I need to go back to the gym now..." Gardenia said, "But I hope we can see each other around some time!"

"Y-yes, me too!" I responded.

We both waved goodbye, and then when I got inside the building and handed the supplies to Nurse Joy, I started daydreaming of her. She seems so nice, I hope we get to know each other better soon because I love her...
